He's one of the Phillies' most promising pitching prospects. Mid-90s fastball, and a slider that could really develop into a plus pitch. If the Astros decide Oswalt is staying put, the Phillies might be willing to settle for a #4 guy like Maholm. Perhaps add some bullpen help to the deal, like Carasco (who has been very good this year), and a lower-level high-ceiling guy (perhaps in low-A or so) from the Phillies, and the deal would be pretty fair, and the Pirates would have the most promising pitching prospect in their system.
The thing I'd like about this deal is that it would mean Wilson, Owens, Morris, and Ramirez would all come up around the same time, which would be great for the Pirates.
