The sad part about the Terps move is that it was 100% a quick money grab. The move makes absolutely no sense for them. None at all. As an ACC fan (for the future) I'm hoping the ACC looks into getting Louisville. I know everyone is saying grab UConn, but Louisville is a great brand on both major sports. The move is also hurting their other sports. Lacrosse is one I've seen mentioned. That's a big sport in the ACC/East Coast, but not so much in the Big Ten. I dunno, I think the ACC is a stronger conference right now. They have some football teams on down years, yes, but for both the major sports it's the better option. Just seems like they sold out.

Yep, that's exactly what they did. Big Ten makes more money on college sports, mostly b/c football is the biggest revenue generator and the ACC is more of a basketball conference. But I liked that and that's what I care about.

Andy Katz is on ESPN talking about how the move had to do with "feeling like a stepchild behind Duke and UNC in the ACC." Grow up, fuckhead. This is about money, it has nothing to do with feelings. We've long been the 3rd best basketball school in the ACC, and that's just fine. We won a title, had tournament success, and being 3rd best in the best basketball conference in the country is just fine. Do you think Georgia hates playing SEC football? No, like Maryland, they are part of something big and an important part of that conference being the best at what it does well.

This also sucks for the lacrosse and soccer programs - the ACC is also arguably the best at these sports as well, so it's another small reason it stings. Only plus I can think of is better hockey.

When is Willie Randolph going to get another shot? I always thought he got the shaft with the Mets and Jerry Manuel oot way too long of a leash. The reason being Willie Randolph was of the Joe Torre mold, very tight lipped, whereas Jerry gave the media what they wanted, always had a good sound bite.

They're going to a conference where they'll be the bottom of the football food chain and possibly STILL third fiddle in basketball. The conference has talent in OSU and UofM, I suppose MSt too, but overall doesn't compare to the ACC. Looking at the future of the ACC is insane.

There have been rumors of 4 super conferences for years, it's just finally coming to fruition. The ACC and Big East will be pretty much non existent in terms of football in a few years. Football makes way, way, way more money than basketball does so the basketball conferences will be at the mercy of their football counterparts.

With the SEC, Big Ten, Pac 12, ACC, and Big 12 it's already on it's way. The Big East is already a goner.

Right, I understand that. I'm saying that Andy Katz saying that Maryland being below UNC and Duke in the ACC had ZERO to do with the decision. Nobody in the Board of Regents meeting sat down and said, "I am tired of being not as good as UNC and Duke." It's a ridiculous thing for him to say, and this is his job. What a fucking moron.

That's alright, it's about time he was taken down a peg or two. It's Sesame Street not Elmo Street. When I was younger it was all about Bert and Ernie and Big Bird. Elmo had a good run but it's time to get back to basics.

Of course money had something to do with the move, but I also think fear of finishing at the bottom of the ACC every year in Football & especially Basketball had something to do with it. At least in the Big 10 Maryland will have a chance to make the NCAA Tourney in basketball. In the ACC Syracuse & Pitt are coming. Talk about a loaded conference. Their conference Tourney is going to be epic starting next year.
