I don't understand that move from their perspective. I honestly think the ACC is a better choice for them. They're a basketball school, and the ACC is a basketball heavy conference. The Big 10 is much weaker in that sense. I've read mixed responses on this though. Some people think it'll be done by Tuesday, others think the Big 10 doesn't work that quickly.

Yeah, when I think about Maryland, I think about them giving Duke and UNC fits in college basketball. Sad to think that's coming to an end (at least in conference play).

More than anything... I don't know how I can make fun of Big Ten basketball when MY team is in the Big Ten. Sigh...

I'll miss the Duke-MD games. They were a lot of fun. Nobody made people in Cameron cry more than we did the last couple decades.

Why has collegiate athletics come to this? Sure, the Terps were a founding member of the ACC, but in the grand scheme of things, does it really matter? Conference loyalty is a relic of the past.

It sucks that collegiate athlethics is essentially run by FBS football and nothing else. Also, the NCAA doesn't know what direction it wants to go - either have rules and enfore them or don't - don't overstep your bounds to prove a point and don't impose sanctions only to reverse them after a week.

I guarantee Maryland is losing a lot of fans today. Will that offset the money gains? No idea. But this was a cheap fix by Maryland. They're ADs over the past 5 years have completely sucked dick. And b/c of that, now we are out of a conference we were a found member of and have been part of for more than 50 years. I love the ACC as much as I love Maryland. I'll be curious to see if I even remain a Terps' fan. I'm not an alumnus, it's just the team I grew up with.

The sad part about the Terps move is that it was 100% a quick money grab. The move makes absolutely no sense for them. None at all. As an ACC fan (for the future) I'm hoping the ACC looks into getting Louisville. I know everyone is saying grab UConn, but Louisville is a great brand on both major sports. The move is also hurting their other sports. Lacrosse is one I've seen mentioned. That's a big sport in the ACC/East Coast, but not so much in the Big Ten. I dunno, I think the ACC is a stronger conference right now. They have some football teams on down years, yes, but for both the major sports it's the better option. Just seems like they sold out.
