I like your beard.
Exhibit A as to why the Pirates need to stick to the trade market essentially. FA market is screwed up beyond belief.
This is a bit outside.
Rajai Davis signed with the Tigers. His deal is for 2 years and $9-10 million. What is this free agent market?

That is precisely the discouraging conclusion at which I was forced to finally arrive.
We let Davis go years ago for basically nothing and it wasn't a bad move. Now he's making $5 million a year to probably be a fourth outfielder and pinch runner?
Absurd.
Amendment to my last post: I'd really like Loney. Since the beginning of the offseason he's the one I wanted the Pirates to target. He just wants 3/30. Luckily he hasn't been getting offers like that, so hopefully deters him to drop either the years or the money. I'm thinking if he's willing to go 2/20 or 2/22 or something the Pirates should do it. He'd be a big upgrade.
Unfortunately for us, he's an upgrade by being tremendously average.
A platoon between Loney and Sanchez would work, but Loney would be the offensively weaker half of it.
I'm still kind of interested in Adam Lind, and I know Neil's pursuing that sort of trade. Lind's a butcher at first, but he brings a good deal more offensively than Loney does.
And I'm also afraid Loney's ceiling is what he did in 2013. If that's the case, he likely wouldn't even play up to a 2/20 type of contract.
But that's the market, and I don't think we can rely on Lambo.
Cliff Lee and Cole Hamels both put on the trade block by Philly. I guess they are re-building.
I can think of a lot of teams that would want to add one of those guys to their starting rotation.
Dominic Brown also being dangled. They also said they're not willing to pay any of Hamels/Lee salaries in a trade, so I'm pretty sure the trades won't happen unless they throw in cash.
Pirates extend Morton, 3 years, $21 million.
Morton's the type of pitcher who likely gets about $10-12 million per on the open market. Darned good signing.
What are the Mariners doing?
Signing Corey Hart, okay, now you have the RH half of a decent platoon at first.
Trading for Logan Morrison, though? Why? They already have Smoak, who is a better hitter now and has the higher ceiling. Smoak should be the LH half of that platoon. Morrison serves no purpose to them.
