I remember an episode of Pawn Stars where Chumlee bought a binder of those cards. They were all in plastic and the guy who had them kept them in incredible shape. I think Chum bought them for $500 which I thought was kinda high, but Rick was getting a good laugh for them.

among my random collection from when i was a kid, I have Star Wars cards, KISS cards, and a couple of Alf cards.
probably a few garbage pail kids cards as well.

not complete sets, just a few of each.
certainly would not have bought them, so probably when you had a kid desperate and he'd play you for his whole set, they would have been the random extras
