If I can rant about the St. Louis Cardinals as well, their fans are the most overrated fans in baseball. I've said it before, but they're supposed to be this great baseball town, super knowledgeable etc. In the 06 NLCS against the Mets they were sitting on their hands and dead quiet the entire series. Regardless of the situation. They could be down a run or 2, bases juiced with 2 outs in the 8th and at best you'd get a golf clap. I say boo the Cardinals.

Yes...yesssss...excellent.

It's really more of the whole calling themselves the best. It's one thing to be a good fanbase, it's another to anoint yourself the best. Jhonny Peralta is on your team now, so don't pretend you're spotless you jerks!

They've somehow tricked the rest of the baseball world into thinking they're this "aww, shucks", down home, clean cut, never wrong, "doing it the right way" club.

They're not.

They're no better than any other franchise in sports when it comes to ethics, they just have manipulated others into thinking so. No, Cardinals fans, you're not better than other teams' fans. You sell out because your team is consistently good. Congrats on being born in a town or to a family that has a good rooting interest. I'm a Pittsburgher, I realize what it means to be freaking lucky, and what it means to be part of a fanbase that somehow thinks it's superior when it's not. Good teams have good fanbases because the fans have a reason to stay, don't get it twisted.

I agree with all of this*

*if you replace all references to St Louis and replace them with the US WOMENS NATIONAL SOCCER TEAM

*hyperventilates* Pirates are .5 game back from the Cards, who are down 2-0 early in Arizona.

Royals are closing in on the postseason for the first time since '85.

I'm really amazed at how little press the Royals are getting. The Pirates got never ending coverage last year (slight difference just because it was losing season streak on top of postseason streak), and the Royals getting a golf clap.

How about Justin Morneau (New Westminster BC boy) winning the NL batting title? What a comeback from concussion issues. Congrats Justin.

The Nationals ended the season with the first no-hitter in franchise history today with Jordan Zimmerman allowing only 1 walk and striking out 10 in the 1-0 victory. And the last out of the season was pretty sensational courtesy of Steven Souza Jr...

And here's how the 5-man starting pitching rotation did in the last two weeks...
0.83 ERA
12-0
