Happy 65th, Billy F.

/on of my fave moments in recorded history is when the string slips from the nut during the dive bomb at 3:39 *plink*
not sure why. just think it's neat that they kept it in.

Thanks, I'm really digging the wine red limited edition. It goes well with my sienna sunburst strat.

And speaking of amps...

I just bought this to run my keyboards through -- a 1000 watt Mackie SRM 450 v3 speaker...

Can find the edit function (is there one?), but that's a powered speaker (not passive).

I'm either being completely retarded or I haven't got a pencil; I don't see one anywhere. Perhaps I don't get one until I've had enough posts on the new forum?

LOL.

Must have been a numbers issue because the pencil just showed up.

Just placed an order for a Hofner Ignition Violin bass. Got a really sweet band starting up. I'm filling the bass slot because my two other buddies are much better at guitar. The drummer is real good as well. Here's a pic...

Will I ruin the speaker in my deluxe reverb if I play the bass thought it at low volume for a little while?

I know Jaco Pastorious used guitar amps (listen to the tone on "Birdland"). If you're using a twelve inch or larger speaker, I don't see anything being problematic. Also, use your ears. With anything, if you're getting sounds you shouldn't be be getting (namely, lots of distortion), then you might want to turn down or just not use the amp for bass. All that said, there really isn't a practical reason not to use a guitar amp for bass as bassists have in the past. Hell, keyboardists use guitar amps and they can get some gritty, low tones out of a Hammond B3.

Edit: even some 10 inch speakers might be ok as many new bass amps do employ 10 inch speakers. The only reason you would really want larger speakers is to get more of that boomy, bass tone; YMMV.
