I bought a ukulele...does that belong in this thread? No experience with string instruments, but I have three songs down so far.

I would say it belongs in this thread. Congrats on having 3 songs down.

It's kind of a general musical thread for the most part as I pretty much talk keyboards most of the time. Either that or everyone has been polite enough not to tell me to scam. lol

Next to Eruption, the solo from Crazy Train set the bar for anyone wanting to become a heavy metal guitarist/rock god. Bizarre, but I'd never really heard of him until after he died.

I picked up a guitar to learn Dee.
It took me months, note by note, bar by bar.

Need a mixer for home or small gig use? Here's one (that I own) that's ridiculously underpriced at $50USD -- the Mackie Mix 5. It's clean, with no discernible outside noise or distortion. Seriously, I've been around a ton of mixers over the years playing gigs and what not and this thing is better or as good as anything I've heard in terms of sound quality cleanliness. The only drawback is that it's limited in scope, but like I said; for home and small gigs, this thing kicks the ass.

Picked this up from Tom Lee music at a seriously undervalued price a couple of days ago (my gain). A 100% analogue synth, designed by Dave Smith; the dude who was behind one of the most famous synths of all time - the Sequential Circuits Prophet 5, released back in the late 70's (think; Genesis, Pink Floyd, Herbie Hancock, Weather Report...and more). So excited; my first analogue synth.

@SLY

The Moog arrived today. Wow, what a synth. I've played and owned lotsa synths but this thing really is the greatest thing I've ever played. I can only describe it as being the Harley Davidson of synthesizers. Yes a little pricier, but damn well worth it (I still love the DSI Mopho, though).

Anybody still use this thread? Wanted to ask about people's experience with fender acoustics. I have an opportunity to buy a DG for 100 bucks

they are fine no-frills guitars. DG8?
used to be made in Korea, now in China.

as long as nothing is wrong with it, that's a decent price.
biggest thing is check if neck is straight, and there's some life left on the frets.

This is a DG 21S Nat. Going to take it for a spin tomorrow. The price was suspiciously low, but honestly I don't have much experience with 6 strings

yeah DG21 better build quality.
quite a good price if it's in good shape.

from a friend? craigslist? sometime you get lucky.
I once traded a $200 7 string shredder for a Gretch Synchromatic
probably $1,000 difference in value, but the guy really wanted to play Korn or something. lol

Off CraigsList, yeah. I recently bought a squier strat off CL for 150. Then my wife says she wishes I had gotten an acoustic instead. I'm like, "okay, I'll go get one tomorrow... But I'm keeping this Strat"
