Unfortunately, not student loans. And especially not when they're deferred.

True. I ended up doing a debt consolidation loan, and my credit has gone up since then.

Wells Fargo is beginning to charge people $3 everytime we use our debit cards.

Bank of America will be charging people $5 everytime we use our debit cards as well.

That's who I'm with, but I'm on their Student/Employee of University of Arizona account, so every single fee is waived for me. :)

Isn't it $3 and $5 per month? (really hoping so)

From what I understand it's everytime you use the card. Maybe it's because they're selling fewer & fewer checks because more people are banking on line.

The why doesn't matter though. I consider what the banks are beginning to do STEALING.

As far as I know Federal Credit Unions are not adding fees. I'll have to look into that as well.

ya, its a monthly fee for your debit card.. and if i'm not mistaken, it only effects certain types of checking accounts.. my banker just had me switch my checking accounts to avoid fees and keep everything the same

Hopefully people "occupy" the voting booths.

I don't see the choice between the lesser of two evils coming to an end any time soon. Good thing is with Obama, even some democrats are ready for a change.

only if we can believe in it

I want to like Paul because yes, he has some great ideas and i believe he truly wants what is best for the U.S. (unlike our present leaders).

But you are right, some of his other ideas are just out there. Until we get more radicals into the house and senate, Ron Paul just doesn't fit in with our Democrat/Republican political system. I wish it weren't so.

I was really hoping for Chris Christie to run.

I pray he does not see a second term.

You're bonkers. Political positions of Ron Paul - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

That is what this country needs.

I don't see that happening.

And please, please...do not accept the 3-year avatar bet LMAO. :L :L

Lol, no bet. And you only dont see that happening because of the media. If people were smart they would educate others, so peoples minds arent posioned again like they were with this Obama bullshit.

He is no radical. He stands for the U.S. Constitution, and almost all of his policies are spot on, of course from my perspective.

that fox news poll yesterday regarding occupy wall street stunned me

I'm sure it stunned them as well. I saw another interesting poll today.

Only a little over 20% support the "Obama Jobs Plan," with a little over 30% against, and more than 40% having no opinion. When asked a different way - "do you support a jobs plan that..." and then explaining the three main tenets - the number of people saying they are for "that" plan jumped to 63%.

This gets at a problem as large as special interest money - we are so concerned with parties, buzz words, and the individuals that we don't look at IDEAS anymore. We don't educate ourselves on issues, but dive right in with something we hear in a soundbite. We don't actively read our news, we passively watch it. We don't vote. 60% of us can't take a half hour every couple years to voice our opinion or be bothered to write a letter to our congressman.

The cynicism out there is kind of sickening to me. George Carlin is funny, but a lot of those connections are just ridiculous. And where do those ideas take us? The second video has it right on. Balance the fucking budget. The President/Congress can only do so much to make jobs, but voters never seem to get that. Everyone says they are inept, but what can they do? They need to bust up the unions some, but how do they take them on? They need to cut into SS and medicare benefits, but people will vote them out? Not my social security! Then need to invest in green jobs? But omg, one company failed! It's not simply, they need to do A, and they do B because they are stupid and terrible people. It's that they need to do A, but the media environment won't even let them TALK about doing A. And they keep their jobs if they do B. Some b/c they are greedy power whores. But most more likely b/c they think they can get to A if they stay in office. It's a difficult trap.

Yes, the politicians need to do better. But so do the people. Accept some fucking pain! I'm not sure the media environment will allow that to happen. But it would help if people were actually fucking educated and examined issues critically.

Unlike you Jeff, I like a lot of what Obama stands for. I also like a lot of what Ron Paul says and I'm in the camp for a modified flat tax. But I can differentiate between an issue and a person. And I don't buy that the economy is terrible b/c of Obama b/c I understand that decisions made in the Clinton administration and the Bush administration and forces wholly outside the political sphere (banks, Wall St., individuals buying homes beyond their means, etc.) had more impact on the current economic crisis than ANYTHING that Obama has done.

But why don't you stop bringing this Dem against Rep anti-Obama bullshit to these discussions. And if you don't like something he did, how about focus on the idea, not just generalities.

I have no idea why I'm posting. But here goes.

My temp job ends in two weeks. I have nothing else to go to. I have no health insurance so I'm screwed if I get hurt or sick. I am one of "those" people. It really sucks. I'm trying my best to get myself into a better situation and I'm hoping for the best. But yes, fuck the government. Very few good things have come out of any political system.

People who talk about how voting makes a difference. Hell no it doesn't. If the Bush election didn't drive that home I'm not sure what will. The country is in the boat it is because of the actions of these "elected" figures. It was a collective effort to put us in the spot we're in now. You know who got helped out first once this all happened? The to big to fail companies. Companies who have engaged in less then truthful and straight up illegal activities. All in the name of lining their pockets at the expense of everyone who's not lucky enough to be one of them.

It doesn't matter who you elect. That person will be out of office at some point. Anyone could come behind them and undo all the good they managed to do. The two party system leaves very little room for common sense or moderation. Most political ideals or systems are like that. Not to mention the fact most "world powers", empires or whatever term you wish to use fail. What makes the nations out there now any different?

Putting faith in a system that is clearly broken just seems insane to me. There are much more important matters to be worried about.

Well said. Considering I am only old enough to have voted once before, I have also realized our political system is completely broken it it really has come down to choosing between the lesser of two evils.

I consider myself conservative yet they stand for many things I do not stand for. But because I agree with that side more than the other, I associate myself with them. It has also become well I don't want that guy in office, so I will vote for someone else who has a chance at beating him, yet I do not totally trust this person either.

In the end, it will be a democrat or republican in office. No one else stands a chance and it just depresses me.
