... :L

Your a liberal aren't you?

Moderate, even leaning toward conservative, actually.

I just really like trick-or-treating. =) And I've had to administer medical masks to residents when they had Swine Flu, so I know the logistical shortcomings of making a blanket law against all masks.

EDIT: Oh, and I go through annual mandatory sensitivity training every year for my job.

I normally cannot stand Ben Stiller movies, but this one had me laughing to death.

I hate that movie. I don't think I even chuckled once. Of course, I laugh at jokes about Shroedinger's Cat, so perhaps it's me...

How can you not laugh at a baby stabbing Ben Stiller repeatedly in the back??

No, finding loopholes to something that is clearly wrong to try and give a victory to people who feel they are oppressed is liberal. They do it well.

I just don't buy it. They're taking away rights here, wouldn't you say? Regardless of the brainwash v. faith thing (I have faith, and while I was exposed to it in my family, it's still a decision I made. Trust me, I know PLENTY of people who struggle with faith from Christian families and the other way around), this is something that is part of the culture of a great part Islam people. I can see why it is regarded as oppression of women, BUT if those women believe that their face should be covered to not be lustful towards men, then why should the government take that away? Many of the younger women may not have the feeling of exposure, but telling a bunch of old ladies they can't cover themselves is ridiculous. It's a cultural thing as well as a religious thing. Heck, it was part of culture that women wore dresses before...well, probably the early 1900's. That changed with time, but it was just part of the culture. Lets put it this way...should the government be allowed to force them to wear it? No. So they shouldn't be able to not allow them to wear it either. The security thing is BS. Sorry.

Exactly. They can have a field day where it was originated.

I completely disagree with you. Your identity should never be covered up.

Nice try but this is not about finding loopholes; this is about a law being passed that takes away people rights. I would think most conservatives would be against more laws being added to take away peoples rights.

Maybe this isnt a liberal - conservative issue, or maybe you feel comfortable labeling anyone that disagrees with you on any issue a stupid liberal.

Perhaps... But I can definitely see this issue translated into a liberal/conservative debate. Conservatives are very traditional, for the most part, and would not favor people walking around with their faces covered. Liberals, for the most part, always feel they have to defend those who feel they are oppressed. Its ridiculous.

But all "labels" aside... I don't see what the big deal is... France doesn't want people walking around with their faces covered. If it is a MUST for them, then they can return to their respective countries.

Actually, it's a very small amount of people. Out of the millions of Muslim women in France, they estimate less than two thousand of them wear full burqas.

Furthermore, burqa's were much LESS common until the rise of the Taliban. This may have something that was of cultural significance thousands of years ago but it passed in time and has only come back with the escalating levels of fundamentalism.

Holy shit. Sound the alarm. Jeff and I might be close to agreeing on a political issue (although for totally different reasons and I'm not completely 100 % sure of my stance still).
