Motta hurt (hamstring). He was Italy's 3rd sub so now it looks like Italy has to play a man down.

Based on the game it was going to be a big hill to climb...now it is a mountain if they want to get back in and win this.

Spain was being criticized a bit for not playing with a front striker....but man they showed they can do it with a back 4 and a bunch of mid fielders.
Playing the 4-6-0 (I know they set up 4-3-3 but it seems like a 4-6-0. Any 1 mid fielder can run up in the play and not have to worry as another will drop back.)

However, all those mid fielders can pot goals.

I thought they should have played with a true striker all along but I never called them "boring" like a lot of the asswipes in the English media

They really got over on a hurting Italian squad ... And then when motta blew is hamstring ... Done and done!

Oh one other thing. With all those mid fielders, they were able to control the middle of the pitch and have the other team tire themselves out chasing the ball with all their passing.

However, give them credit that they did attack and have some of the loveliest passing you'll see. Lovely football.
