I bet you the people who talk nothing but shit about Jerry will never give him credit for letting Demarco walk in free agency. I am not a huge Jerry fan, but objectively he's nowhere near as bad as people make him out to be as a person or an owner.

My criticism of Jones is and will always be as a GM.

This team has won, what, 2 playoff games in the last 2 decades? And the only thing which hasn't changed is the buffoon named Jones who maskerades as a general manager.

How many coaches has Jerry hired/fired for not getting the job done over the past 20 years?

Cowboys are oe of the favorites to sign Lamar Miller FA RB

That would be a good signing if so. Sorta wish they would go after Forte, even though he is old, he still has a few good years in him and behind our line, who knows what he could do.

IRVING, Texas -- The Dallas Cowboys were awarded four compensatory picks for the upcoming NFL draft, bringing their total to nine selections in April.

For losing seven free agents last year and signing just three last year, the Cowboys received a fourth round (No. 135 overall) and three sixth-round picks (Nos. 212, 216, 217). Compensatory picks cannot be traded, however, that rule changes in 2017.

Four picks in the first 101 guys taken is a great position to be in for a draft. And depth guys with all those 6th rounders cannot hurt at all.

sets up nicely for the future years hopefully, if some of these pan out. especially considering cap space and prudent FA spending, which hasn't always been the forte' for the boys. i posted lots about tis on the cowboys board

Unfortunately the Cowboys are absolutely atrocious at drafting, especially after the first few rounds and this is why we have such a tremendous lack of depth.

But we can always hope, right? ha ha

Interesting how good of an athlete Elliott is when you see what he did in high school especially track and field. Watching him against Alabama in that 1st ever playoffs I saw the speed he had to go along with his size of 6' and 225 lbs. I would not mind seeing this guy run behind our line.

Elliott attended John Burroughs School in Ladue, Missouri,[1] where he was a three-sport star in football, basketball and track. He played as a running back for the John Burroughs Bombers football team. As a junior in 2012, he was named the St. Louis Post-Dispatch offensive player of the year after rushing for 1,802 yards and 34 touchdowns and receiving 23 passes for 401 yards and six scores. In his senior year, he had 3,061 all-purpose yards and 50 total touchdowns, including 2,155 rushing yards and 40 rushing touchdowns.[2]

Also a standout track & field athlete, Elliott was a state qualifier in sprinting and hurdling events. He capped his high school career by winning four state championships at the Missouri Class 3 state championships in 21⁄2 hours (100-meter dash, 200, 110 high hurdles and 300 hurdles).[3] He recorded career-best times of 10.95 seconds in the 100-meter dash, 22.05 seconds in the 200-meter dash, 13.77 seconds in the 110m hurdles and 37.52 seconds in the 300m hurdles.[4] He was named the Gatorade Track Athlete of the Year in the state of Missouri.

If Romo is healthy, the offense will score enough to win games. My concern is primarily defense. Def.ends and safety needs must be found or it will put to much pressure on the offense to score beyond their limit. Fourth rd. will be interesting. Now if Romo goes down again, it won't matter this year who we pick. IMO :2cents:

I have always believed in drafting the best athlete available vs what you may need at a certain position. This year most people are wanting to trade down. What do you guys feel about? What do you think Jerry will do?

Trading down or staying put are both acceptable options as the Cowboys have quite a few holes on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd level of the defense. BUT an impact player on defense (best one available, regardless of position) could also have an equally large impact

Basically I'm thinking they need defense if that wasn't obvious, maybe try and score a developmental QB in the 2nd-3rd rounds

If Ramsey isn't there at 4, I think JJ is so in love w Zeke, that he's the pick

I'm being honest when I say JJ is not predictable. We have two def. ends on suspension and JJ knew very well could be a big problem and they are. Now we have two problems that did not have to be. Wait and see I guess. Thought JTA had a good overview.

One thing that would help the defense is eating up the clock on the ground. I completely understand your thoughts on defensive needs. But a balanced offense would help greatly. When you have to throw the majority of the time then that gives the other team more opportunities and you better have a great defense.

The big 12 is providing some very good picks for those needing receivers.

Oh no doubt the defense needs upgrades especially at DE and DB that's exactly why my prediction with JJ would be if the DB isn't there at 4, that he goes w the flashy RB

Sure is. There's some value there too. Shepard is going to be a great pick for somebody in the second round.
