I absolutely loved the book that show is based on.

Haven't had a chance to start watching yet because of recent travels, but I'm hoping to get caught up this weekend.

I watched the first two and it was awesome then like you some travel got in the way so I'm recording them for a binge

The Terror is outstanding.

Three thumbs up! Incredibly well shot and produced and the characters are interesting.

Too bad for Ciaran Hinds who has clearly been typecast for characters in supernatural ice worlds only. ;)

It also gives us Americans an idea of what Canadian spring is like. Educational!

That was one of the great elements of the book. He didn't beat you over the head by telling you the temperature constantly, yet you always had the sense of how cold they were.

I liked the book, but thought it lost its way near the end. I am hoping the show can nail the landing.

Yeah, <no spoilers> he went a little heavy on some of the Inuit mythology. I'm thinking TV might be a better format to not lose the narrative quite as much.

I still liked it though, well enough to read one of his next books "Drood". That was only 776 pages.

Yeah, I did the same. Found "Drood" to be OK. Then I decided to give "Black Hills" a chance and didn't enjoy it at all.

I gave up on one of them, that might have been it. For years when working at home I would read a ton, after getting a new job with a long commute I read far less. Nowadays unless its fantastic - a 700 page book seems overwhelming.

I really liked a book called "The Passage" and its sequel "The Twelve". I have yet to read the final book in the trilogy because its 650 pages.

Speaking of movies, has anyone signed up for MoviePass?

It let's you go see like 4 movies in theaters a month for $10. I'm curious if anyone has tried it and if it works.

I signed up under the old one per day plan. It's worked really well for me so far, but I'm getting a lot more out of it because I can do essentially unlimited.

Thanks, Sabres. What kind of theater do you go to? Regal? AMC? Other?
I've only used it at the AMC closest to my house so far, but I have a friend who has used it at several others without issue. If you go to one with an automated kiosk, you swipe it just like a credit card and I haven't had any trouble.

Saw Avengers today. Outstanding. I can be pretty critical of the Marvel formula at times, but this felt like a homerun; don't really understand some of the "meh" reviews other than Marvel exhaustion. It had a "Return of the King" feel to it, if I can compare to another blockbuster; tons of shit happening, and every hero coming together in a desperate battle.

Is this a spoiler-safe place? Or should I be using some sort of spoiler tag for discussions? Who else has seen it?
