Haven't had a chance to start watching yet because of recent travels, but I'm hoping to get caught up this weekend.
The Terror is outstanding.
That was one of the great elements of the book. He didn't beat you over the head by telling you the temperature constantly, yet you always had the sense of how cold they were.It also gives us Americans an idea of what Canadian spring is like. Educational!
Yeah, <no spoilers> he went a little heavy on some of the Inuit mythology. I'm thinking TV might be a better format to not lose the narrative quite as much.I liked the book, but thought it lost its way near the end. I am hoping the show can nail the landing.
I still liked it though, well enough to read one of his next books "Drood". That was only 776 pages.Yeah, <no spoilers> he went a little heavy on some of the Inuit mythology. I'm thinking TV might be a better format to not lose the narrative quite as much.
Yeah, I did the same. Found "Drood" to be OK. Then I decided to give "Black Hills" a chance and didn't enjoy it at all.I still liked it though, well enough to read one of his next books "Drood". That was only 776 pages.
I gave up on one of them, that might have been it. For years when working at home I would read a ton, after getting a new job with a long commute I read far less. Nowadays unless its fantastic - a 700 page book seems overwhelming.Yeah, I did the same. Found "Drood" to be OK. Then I decided to give "Black Hills" a chance and didn't enjoy it at all.
I signed up under the old one per day plan. It's worked really well for me so far, but I'm getting a lot more out of it because I can do essentially unlimited.Speaking of movies, has anyone signed up for MoviePass?
It let's you go see like 4 movies in theaters a month for $10. I'm curious if anyone has tried it and if it works.

I've only used it at the AMC closest to my house so far, but I have a friend who has used it at several others without issue. If you go to one with an automated kiosk, you swipe it just like a credit card and I haven't had any trouble. Thanks, Sabres. What kind of theater do you go to? Regal? AMC? Other?
