I am?
I'm a lover, not a fighter, baht I know a few guys who would pound the snot out of Mr. Sterling leaving him full of black and blue marks.
Why do i feel this is like an episode of curb your enthusiasm and larry david is somehow involved?
If they would play the "Curb" theme after they played the audio of the quotes it would not seem as serious.
And this is why I pay zero attention to this league. I know there are some questionable characters that own teams in the NHL (wang), but could you imagine even for a second a modern NHL owner doing something similar?
I realize there have been some scumbag owners in the NHL's history. Harold Ballard comes to mind. But since the turn of the century, I can't really think of one. NBA is still a poor excuse for a professional sport. This jabroney Sterling just cements that opinion for me.
I doubt the characters of the billionaire owners in the NBA or NHL are all that different - I'm sure there are douchebags and nice guys aplenty in both groups.
I don't think it's fair to paint NBA owners negatively because they have one guy that is a racist. If anything, I think football (college and pros) has had the biggest race issue in recent years.

You are probably right about that. Still, I can't think of a modern NHL owner who could come close to this kind of douchebaggery.
Maybe throw in Bettman since he kind of owns the Coyotes, I suppose
I sort of doubt that any of us really knows any of the NHL owners well enough to know whether or not they might say something racist during their personal and private conversations.
One of the reasons for that is there are 53 men rosters in the NFL, plus all of the other players who are on practice squads and trying to make the teams, so there's probably more of a chance in the NFL of some guy doing something stupid
I was more talking about that point like 10 years ago where there were nearly 250 combined head coaching jobs at I-A colleges and in the NFL and less than a half dozen of those coaches were black in a sport where black athletes have a slight majority. The Rooney Rule came along and today there are a few dozen black head coaches in the pro and college ranks, some of whom have won titles or put teams in the top 25.
You have one owner (in Sterling) who is clearly an asshole/racist, but the NBA has far more minority representation in ownership and at executive/coaching positions than any other pro sports league. And I'm not saying that is good/bad or trying to be political, it just follows suit that in sports where the majority of the athletes are of a certain race, you'd expect that they would represent organizational leadership roles in similar proportions. And you see that in the NBA, less so in the NFL. So to attribute the values of one owner to a league with a proven track record of minority ownership/leadership seems unfair. That's all.

Why though? The two areas would seem to me to require pretty different skill sets. I'd never hire Lawrence Taylor (or Mark Gastineau if you want me to name a white guy) to run my organization, but he could get a job hitting the other teams' quarterbacks for me any time.
Just because someone was successful playing the game, doesn't mean they will be successful managing it.
