At my last job, I had two departments/programs that I built and oversaw. One a traditional cybersecurity role, and the second an experimental (at the time) detection program/idea that was gaining traction industry wide. I, along with a very strong analyst, built it from the ground up and had it working really well. My intention was to spin it off to it's own program and turn it over to the analyst who was my protege. We started it around 6 years ago.

Four years ago, a new CISO came in, hired a bunch of cronies and put them in charge of whatever they asked for. One, of course, figured out the shiny new thing and asked for it and was given it. He promptly ruined it, and my protege left over it. The last investigation I did at that job was into the relationship between the guy and his boss, which I was asked to do by the chief ethics lawyer. I turned the report in, and quit having found another job. Within the last year the CISO and at least 5 of their cronies have been canned, including the one who took over my stuff.

I just got an email from a recruiter at that company, who claimed to be super impressed with my LinkedIn profile (which he apparently didn't read) and asked if I wanted to interview for a staff level position in that department.

Motherfucker, you want to talk to me about a lower level job in a department I FUCKING CREATED?

I am tempted to do it, just for fun. It would be my goal to make him cry.
