That Jeep Gladiator is not only ugly but probably the most useless vehicle. A "pickup" with barely a bed and no comfort like all new pickups.

Yeah, if you don't have at a minimum a 6 foot bed (which is still bordering on useless), I can't be bothered. I remember back in the late 70's/early 80's when Toyota had a small pickup with a 8 foot bed. I wish they would bring that back to North America.

Somebody at my workplace has one. Three years later I still dont know whether I really hate it or really like it.

They are pretty expensive, but they seem to retain their resale value thus as a vehicle purchase it's okay. I just wonder about the engine now that they're owned by Stellantis.

The Wranglers in the US tend to hold their value, whereas the Gladiators not as much.
I did test drive one out of curiosity and the comfort in them was way worse than the Wrangler along with the back seat having less room than a Wrangler.
The only reason I test drove it, I was at a dealer looking at the 4xE but figured since I was there I would check one of one out. Never had the intention of purchasing a Gladiator, but did so out of curiosity. As for the 4xE I like it a lot but would rather wait at this point vs wasting money on a new car.

I got this from the Car Edge site, 22% depreciation after five years is not bad...

A Jeep Gladiator will depreciate 22% after 5 years and have a 5 year resale value of $41,446.

The chart below shows the expected depreciation for the next 10 years. These results are for vehicles in good condition, averaging 12,000 miles per year. It also assumes a selling price of $53,320 when new. Enter your purchase price, expected ownership period and estimated miles driven annually. Our depreciation calculator will predict an expected resale value for the Jeep Gladiator.

I did take a quick glance at some other sites and they do indeed report that the Wrangler does hold its value even better than the Gladiator.

Hard to believe that movie is over 20 years old now...Man, time flies.

Yep, the Jeep posts make me want to watch it again.

Most likely tonight at the end of the first period when the penguin game becomes unbearably unwatchable.

Yeah that isn't bad at all. I just seem them a lot cheaper priced but that was my own anecdotal evidence along with the dealer stating they can't sell them as easy as a wrangler.

I think a lot of people (my youngest daughter is one of them) think the Wrangler is a "cute" vehicle. You know, head to the beach with the top down and be one of the cool kids.

The Gladiator was designed to sell to a very small market segment and car companies generally don't do that anymore so it was cool of them to do that.

But what that segment wanted was a Wrangler with a bed and they got a similar but different in some key ways truck that didn't really leave anybody happy.

Oh yeah. It was to appease asks from their target audience, but they didn't execute on it well.
There is even an audience that wants them to convert newer models to a 4xE but they can't due to the design and would be too costly to re-engineer at this point.

Yep that and it seems everyone in certain areas all own Jeeps (looking at north GA). In a small area alone are dozens of shops that specialize on Jeep modifications. Met someone who owns a shop in Buford GA and he said he is so swamped he is turning people away for work!

lol. Back in the late 70’s me and a few friends had them in our houses. We had antennas and wired the CB to a TYCO toy train electrical pack.

I remember Star Wars was very popular that time and they all chose handles like Stormtrooper, Skywalker, Vader etc.

I was The Green Man :L
