Edgar Allen Poefest stuff is going on this weekend with events in and around Baltimore. One of my favorite authors, Michael Connelly (Bosch, Lincoln Lawyer, etc), was in town to do a meet and greet q&a about a documentary he is working on. Pretty cool event.

Just gonna throw out there that I can understand supporting Palestine and criticizing Israel’s government but if you’re actively celebrating the events of last October 7th you’re just celebrating terrorism and that makes me far less sympathetic to your cause.

Growing up in Maryland, I have seen my share of Tropical Storms and Hurricanes. Nothing as powerful as what Florida typically sees, but they are relentless and pretty terrifying to sit through. I would be lying if I said it didn't factor into why I moved inland. Not even a top ten reason, but yeah I was looking forward to not going through them anymore.

But the speed with which these things are developing into monster storms is incomprehensible to me. Helene was nothing and then wiping a large portion of the country off the map in like 3 days. Milton was a tropical storm yesterday, now a category 5.

And let's not even talk about how when searching for an explanation to why that is, people are landing on "Democrats and Jews control the weather" and not "The earth is getting hotter".

The Gulf essentially became a warm bath tub and it just strengthens the storms quickly.

Also what made Helene even worse was when it went on land all those areas had a lot of rain, very wet ground, and very hot weather. Since hurricanes feed off of warm water this just kept the storm going and going.

I was in Antigua and we only got hit with the edge of a big one that was out pretty far. We locked down and I blocked the windows with the mattress and box spring in case something came flying through the window. I remember the quiet at the start of the night, then how fast the winds came in and how long it lasted. felt like forever... then quiet.... just such an abnormal quiet.. I didnt sleep at all that night and I cant even imagine what it would be like being in the middle of one...

Who is actively celebrating 10/7? That would have to be such a small minority of idiots. I saw a segment on CNN earlier that was pure rubbish from an Israeli citizen pretty much indicating that if you’re calling Israel genocidal and calling for a ceasefire that you support Hamas/Hezbollah. It’s just crazy making.
