I have just been made aware that all of this is being called Winter Storm Iggy.

I am not sure how to feel about this.

Can you post something here that everyone can see but one person?

Joking, not joking.

I think the announcement was already out there so I am guessing the employees already knew. Hoping this is BS because it could a HR nightmare.
This was a major concern I had after the pandemic with the big cloud providers. They all over compensated and did mass hirings for all the work from home boom. Now they are leveling out and getting rid of all the extra workers.

If it is BS, then I chose the right thread :D

not even joking here.

Was working for a tech company early 2000. We were called into the Board room with the BOD. They said EVERYONE in this room doesnt work here any more. You could feel the heat immediately. I was standing next the only door in that room and it opened a crack and I got tapped on the shoulder. it was the HR manager (she had NO idea they were going to do it that way) and she told me "you are not supposed to be in here, here is a list of people that are also not supposed to be in there, please get them out" as I pulled out the last 2 people the BOD were getting yelled at and they realized they cornered themselves in the back of the room and had NO exit (remember one door)

as I closed the door it was ON.... they were being yelled at, cursed at and I started to feel a little bad for them but not really.

then people were going to their desks to get their personal items and I got a SECOND list of those not supposed to be laid off and I went to their desks as they were saying their goodbyes (tears and anger) and I whispered to them... um your not laid off

I still know many of those employees and we still marvel at that day.

We lost 5 good engineers in the mass shuffle a few years ago and three of them went to companies that just announced layoffs. Wonder if we're gonna get them back and how would that even work. I don't know if I could go back after leaving a place.
