Well now what...use Verlander in game 3? Then we cannot use him in game 5. Leyland said under no circumstances was he going to use Verlander less than his usual 5 days.

This helps the Yankees more than it helps Detroit.

This time of year the great lakes have cooled off in some cases 10-15 deg. Lake Erie gets up around 72-79 deg and Ontario a few degrees less. The warm water dissipates the rain clouds (it's called the lake shadow) Believe it or not this make Buffalo one of the sunniest cites from June until August. Yes Buffalo, sunnier per day than cities like Atlanta and Orlando. It's a phenomenon not too many people are aware of.

This carries over to the east coast and that's why we have so many rain delay problems as the season winds down.

whoa shit. i just learned something at 1030pm on a friday night. that is some fuckin knowledge there!

strong work!

i guess the deeper starting rotation has the advantage, and i believe that's the tigers.

Porcello and Sherzer have been very shaky the last month of the regular season. I don't know about New York's pitching.

They've also been very good at times.

The Yankees game 3 starter is....Freddy Garcia. Or at least that's what was being reported at one time.

@DShulman_ESPN Dan Shulman
Day/night doubleheader not being ruled out for Sunday if weather is a problem again tomorrow.

Can't believe this next part is being said by me, but I hope it doesn't interfere with the Lions/Cowboys game.

Jeter struck out because he's awful, but the ball bounded so far away from Avila on a passed ball that Gene Lamont could have beaten the throw to first. The TBS announcers immediately start gushing about Jeter's hustle. Later, they'd compare it to Magglio striking out and the ball rolling three inches away from Yankee catcher Russell Martin and insinuated that Jeter made it to first due to hustle while Magglio didn't. The TBS crew can get fucked with a cricket bat.

the play by play guy is actually pretty good. he does the brewer games, so i've listened to him a lot. i think it's wierd, though to do a game when you're the everyday announcer for a another team. he didn't seem to be his normal self.

They were better than the crew calling the Rangers/Rays game. They were boring as hell. Buck Martinez is awful.

Wonder what Bob Eucker is doing these days?

still doing radio broadcasts for the brewers. his home run calls are classic:

"get up, GET UP, GET UP, GET OUTTA HERE!!!!!"

his home run call that essentially locked up the division for the brewers (braun in the bottom of the 8th, essentially a walk off with axford on the mound)gave me chills.

been lucky that the two teams in baseball i care about had ernie harwell and bob uecker as announcers.

Loved him ever since Major League. Before that I don't really remember him...
