Yes, some guy slapping his wife should be front and center. It not being front and center is why we have such a massive problem with it throughout the entire world. Even the smallest case of domestic violence should be treated as a big deal. We have to, as a society, deem it wholly unacceptable and heavily chastise everyone who does it.
Part of the problem is most of the tiime domestic violence claims don't get far in the court system. The woman ends up dropping the charges. Athletes get away with all kinds of stuff.
I still think what happened with Ray Lewis in N.O. back in 2000 was a BIG cover up. Two guys were murdered & the case is still unsolved.
Slight correction: It was Atlanta. And the truth will never be known because an organization worked very hard to ensure that the sworn testimony of the only surviving witness who was not also a suspect changed.
Lance got away with what he did because an organization covered his tracks too (Nike).
Bottom line, athletes get away with things because they are too important an investment for the organizations that own them. Penn State? Notre Dame? Duke Lacrosse?
You can blame the athletes, and the organizations love it. But they are the ones who need to be held accountable.
The only crime on the books Armstrong is guilty of is perjury. And if Murder, err "Obstruction of justice" warrants only probation, Armstrong shouldn't serve any time.
