Thoughts/guesses on Osweiler starting?

I have seen next to nothing on the guy, not even in college.

I wonder if we see a full Kubiak offense or what they might do.

Catching a rising bears team with former coaches in Chicago is tough start I hope he is up for it.

I think my key is just limit the turnovers.

I think it's the only decision at this point. I've said all along that as long as the Broncos were winning, you couldn't bench Manning no matter how poorly he played. Well, that's obviously not the case anymore.

I'd like to see the Broncos go full Kubiak's offense. You brought him in to coach the team, so let him coach it. Unleash Brock and see how well he fits, then you'll have a good idea if he's worth re-signing, or if the Broncos should be looking for a new qb in the offseason.

I don't think anyone knows exactly what to expect, including John Fox. Granted, he saw Oz for 3 years in practice and pre-season but this offense will look different. I think Brock will struggle like any first time starter would but he's a much more natural fit for what Kubes want to do. If he can limit the turnovers and get some decent drives going, we have a chance. A successful running game will be critical and that's our biggest weakness in helping Oz lead the Broncos to a win on the road. We also need to see our defense get back to form and stop Cutler and Gase's improving offense. That starts with the offense giving our D much better field position.

I'm frustrated and sad today about Manning but will be appropriately pumped up for Sunday to see what the Broncos have in Brock Osweiler.

I'm hopeful. Much more hopeful for him in this offense.

One thing I think Os has going for him is that Kubiak is good at making his offenses QB "friendly". This move was inevitable. I knew it during the preseason. I let myself believe it was just us (I.e. Manning) getting acclimated to a new offense. Patience, I told myself, 2013 PFM will be back with a vengeance. Alas, that day never came. Someone earlier on this board compared Manning to a punch drunk boxer. That is a perfect analogy. Sad, but perfect.

Honestly I am pumped!

1) We need to know if Osweiler is our present and future. We have invested 4 years into this kid and time to see if that has paid off to where we have our QB for the next say 10 years or if we need to start looking at the draft and hoping we can find that next great QB.

2) This whole year has felt like Kubiak has tried to give and give to Manning and the offense that he wants and honestly it just hasn't been working. Teams just are not afraid of Manning at all. They are willing to send the house and dare Manning to make something happen and time and time again he just continues to come up short. Look at this last game as the best example of that of his turnovers were huge in this one. 20 of the Chiefs 29 points came after a turnover in this last one. With the defense we have all they need is to not be put in terrible positions all game long. A game manager that protects the football would do wonders. Manning though still thinks of himself as that top-5 QB and tries to fit the football into tight windows that he just can't hit anymore.

3) Tied in with that last one is that Kubiak can finally run the system that he loves with a QB honestly built perfectly for what he loves to do. We saw in this last game exactly what a mobile QB in Kubiak's system can do. He went out and moved the ball very well while also opening some holes for the run game.

Oh I do. I just know with how Manning has played our entire offense has been limited. Teams know exactly what Manning can do. I think with Osweiler teams actually have to respect a few new things that they didn't before. They have to respect the bootleg much more meaning that back side DE can't just crash down on the run game. WE can actually run from under Center making life much easier for the RB's and the OL where they don't have to hold the hole as long. We have a QB that actually forces teams to have to cover longer than 3 seconds with his ability to avoid pressure. The biggest thing will be can Osweiler keep from turning the ball over? We don't need him to be a top-5 QB just one that protects the ball and trusts the defense to hold up.

Exactly!

I feel it has to be done. Obviously the injury is the major factor here but this is what we needed I think. A slight Manning injury that doesn't keep him out for an extended period of time if we have to go back to him, but at the same time it forces us to take a look at Osweiler.

As much as I hate to see Manning go down like this it honestly is the best thing for our team. Manning obviously is not even close to what he used to be and has been hurting the team way more than helping almost the entire year. I kept wanting to believe it was just him getting used to the new system or that the OL was struggling to come together but so many of Manning's interceptions have been more because of just mental errors. I mean his first interception was throwing into triple coverage. He had another where a linebacker was just waiting for that slant pattern to be run. These are not injury related mistakes but just flat out mental mistakes that Manning rarely makes. He just doesn't have it this year.

Throw in then like you said this gives the chance for the team to see what Osweiler truly has for us. We will actually have some true game film that will matter to decide what type of contract to give him or if we just completely need to cut ties and call him a draft bust.

I think we can all admit that with Manning playing the way he has all year there was very little chance we were winning the Super Bowl with him. While I'm not sure Osweiler gives us much more of a chance at least we can know what our future holds with him and maybe he does actually come in and surprise some people with how much he has truly grown.

First thing I noticed about Osweiler that will have to come with experience is him taking hits when he took off and ran with the football.

I mean we are so use to Manning just falling on the ground with a pass rush, but Osweiler is gonna have to learn to get down.

Yeah I kept thinking that too. He also had a couple of times where he was looking for the big play and missed some very open receivers. On his touchdown pass actually if you watch the player who ran out into the flat to the right was wide open. Osweiler then wouldn't have to take the hits in the pocket and make an incredible play just to get the touchdown. He can just throw a quick 5 yard out play and do just as well. That will come though with more playing time.

I also noticed him shake off a couple tackles too. He's a big guy, 6'8" and 240+. He's not going to be able to hide on the field at that height, but as he gets comfortable in the game he should have good view of the field.

I can not wait for one thing with O I want to see just how far he can throw the football in the air and complete it . It will be insanely far! For as big as he is it is his feet that amaze me . glad for him . As much as he has sit on the bench and studied it is about time he get his shot .

At least we know the Broncos can get a yard on a QB sneak on 3rd or 4th and one - that in its self if pretty big.

I thought for sure he was gonna get sacked on that one play but he somehow shook off the defender. Osweiler has the look of a guy that will be very good at avoiding sacks. I like his mobility. I really like his potential! It will take some time though, and this is a very tough first start. On the road and Chicago is better than their 4-5 record would indicate. They could easily be on a 6 game winning streak right now as the 2 games they lost in this 4 out of 6 stretch, they BARELY lost. Blew it in the last minute of both. Their defense is starting to play a lot better so it's gonna be tough. Their offense is hot as well. Cutler is playing by far the best football of his career under Fox/Gase. This is a tough game. I think Osweiler will hold his own and it will be a close game.

To be honest Osweiler showed really only this year this system to be ready . So I guess his luck might be pretty good if you think it that way .. Last year IMO he would of struggled .. this system seems perfect and timing does seem perfect ..

They have been talking for a couple weeks now
About a Mysterious injury that will allow the team to basically bench manning
The franchise still have to respect a hof qb elway knows that but no way manning plays with a torn anything. I doubt he has a torn foot muscle. His arm is shot and the line has him throwing way be he should but 17 ints half through the year will get Amgen benched for a viable backup
An injury Does not account for his decision making nor the poor throw to start the game
