I think DROY (at this point) is Alonso pretty clearly. But who do you guys think would be OROY at this point in time?

Keenan Allen???

I'd give DROY to Richardson or even Reid before Alonso...

Keenan Allen should be in the discussion, but I think Deandre Hopkins has out-played him thus far.

The best offensive rooks this year have been O-linemen. D.J. Fluker & Kyle Long.

At this point, if the voting happened today Alonso would win DROY. He just would, we might like Reid better being 49ers fans but he wouldn't win if they voted today.

I don't know that DeAndre has outplayed him, Allen is Rivers' top outside option and has shown to be completely reliable as a #1 guy. Right now Hopkins is the #2 guy with Johnson getting most of the attention.

Hopkins might be the conversation but at this point I would say Allen. However if voting took place today I guarantee that Geno Smith would win, no doubt about it since he plays QB.

OROY would have been Manuel if he didn't get injured. Geno has to be the front runner right now simply because he's a QB and not fucking up horribly.

It seems like a pretty weak year for OROY though.

Allen is Rivers' top outside option and has shown to be completely reliable as a #1 guy.

Keeping in mind I was a huge Allen fan all season last year: He's a defacto #1 guy because his top 2 options are injured. Just like Julian Edelman has been the de facto #1 guy in New England so far.

imac is right that the award is almost always going to go to a QB no matter how much he sucks (see Vince Young). But it should go to Fluker or Long if people were being fair about it.

PFF and the stat crew in Buffalo differ on tackle totals for Alonso.

Reid is by far the leader in this one for DROY, OROY is between ALLen(I think he is going to blow up now) or Hopkins. Maybe 1 of the QBs comes alive like EJ or Geno.

Manuel was doing well until the injury. I would like to see if Allen continues to improve his rapport with Rivers. Geno Smith is odds on favorite just because of his position.

that's fine, and cut whom?

Perrish Cox. Colt McCoy. Or even Dahl.

We should have Kept Cooper and BJ Daniels. We're just lucky those aren't "devastating" move for us. They hurt, but letting those guys go will not cripple us.

ok.

the Coaches have to make tough decisions when reaching 53. they're not able to get EVERY single player right. we fans can use hindsight now on Cooper, but don't recall anyone adamant on keeping him in August? keeping him in August over players such as Cox, McCoy, and Dahl that is.

keeping vets such as Cox, McCoy, and Dahl over a 7th round pick isn't uncommon.

deep9er- Great post. I never heard of cooper until his recent play. U can blame the coaches but maybe he just didn't look great during camp.

Looney, Tukuafu, Stupar, the open spot by trading Cam, and Ventrone

ok, but were all these guys on the original 53? if so, then its possible Cooper would've been released for the same reasons these guys were?

btw - had we kept Cooper on the 53, would he be playing CB or NB? i'd think no cause that's one more CB. we still wouldn't know how he plays in real games.

We have shit signed long term at CB. The front office loves CBs with size. They fucked themselves on this one.

No Terrance Williams? He feel like his situation is much better than Hopkins right now

are you saying Cooper would've been a starting CB next season?

were you adamant in keeping Cooper back in August?

that's why you have free agency and the draft, to go get players you need. no team can have EVERY spot covered year to year.

Hey if we kept Cooper maybe we cut Brock because he was down on the depth chart when the season started. Then we would be saying damn why did we cut him if he was playing well on another team. U win some u lose some and sometimes you just dont have room.
