The Oregon Ducks still can make the Rose Bowl — here's how: College football viewing guide (Most Information by this article!
"
TO REACH THE JAN. 1 ROSE BOWL...
Stanford must make the four-team College Football Playoff field, which would lead the Rose Bowl to select a replacement Pac-12 representative based on the second-highest ranked Pac-12 team in Sunday's final CFP rankings, as commissioner Larry Scott has noted. That would be Oregon, which stood 16th in the latest CFP poll, four spots ahead of a USC team that would lose in this scenario."
"How it could happen: With No. 3 Oklahoma (idle) a lock to make the playoff, and the winner of the Big Ten title game between No. 4 Iowa vs. No. 5 Michigan State also almost assuredly in, two final spots are in play today. To get one of those two, Stanford (10-2) and Oregon (9-3) fans will be cheering for No. 18 Florida (10-2) to beat No. 2 Alabama in the SEC championship game (1 p.m. PT, CBS), along with No. 10 North Carolina (11-1) to beat No. 1 Clemson (12-0) in the ACC Championship game (5 p.m. PT, ABC). A caveat: Stanford could have strong enough credentials in the eyes of the committee that perhaps only one upset is required for it to leap into the playoff — but two would create a best-case, if unlikely, scenario."
