Just setting up the eventual "Should they be let back" story...Media pressure etc...They can put whatever they want down...If a group of players applies for reinstate, I would bet heavily they're let back in after testing negative.

If it were a group of players across the league they'd likely have a better chance. Especially since there are impactful stars opting out. I think you would see owners push back on that though since the agreement was put in place and cap numbers are being moved and so on.

Teams are being given back cap space for players that opt out. If a team were to use that space and then a player wants to opt back in would they need to clear cap?

It's all moot because I doubt it would even happen. But the rules seem well thought out and both sides have agreed.

I think the only way the NFL would change it's mind is if there were a cure or vaccine that suddenly made Covid obsolete. But that's extremely far fetched.

Gentlemen's bet. If we play an entire season, Eddie Goldman will suit up eventually.

What is a legitimate reason to opt out unless you, yourself have a pre-existing condition which makes you vulnerable? Like, isn't there a Pats player who recovered from cancer? I get that one. None of the others.

You could have a family member at home that is high risk.

Okay, I mean, that's fair...? Kinda? You're still a professional and this is your job. Rent another place away from them for four damn months, IMO. Oilmen, pipeline workers, etc. make much less and are constantly away from home. This would just be a one time thing.

Regardless, I digress, as I haven't even heard anyone say that they have a high risk family member at home.

Most are seemingly just opting out for the sake of it or with poor, no, or little reason. I cannot stand to hear another guy talk about his pregnant wife. Jesus. There is nothing that has said pregnant women are at risk from this. You might as well just be saying "I have a wife". It means nothing.

I don't understand the general attitude floating around that "Well, very RIGHTFULLY they opted out". Almost as if it's stupid to even play. It's not. No more stupid than me working right now and I don't have millions of dollars worth of doctors/trainers/regular testing to look after me.

These jack offs kneel for the national anthem, you think they can relate to our service members who are away for months from their pregnant wives and ill children while being shot at? These asshole players are worse than politicians in some ways.

I really don’t see an issue and have zero problem with a player choosing to opt out.

Just because someone is healthy and not at risk doesn’t mean they couldn’t get seriously ill and even die from Covid. We are seeing reports nearly daily of people who are succumbing to the virus without having pre existing conditions. And while a pregnant woman might not be more at risk...if it were your wife would you want her to catch it? Or your daughter? Or anyone you cared about?

Stop comparing playing sports to other regular jobs...that’s insanely stupid. These are men paid to play a game that entertains people. They aren’t doctors or teachers or police. Their job isn’t necessary for the world to function properly. They shouldn’t have to spend 4 months away from their family. No one should. Yes some jobs require it but football isn’t one of those jobs. And the people who do have those jobs...chose to have those jobs. So stop.
