Alright, Ackley, Cano, Cruz bottom of the 8th.

Ackley needs to prove he's #2 behind the best pitching prospect in the last decade, Cano and Cruz need to prove they're worth the money. If these guys go 3 and out, stick a fork in this game and team.

And not like I'm asking Cano/Cruz to produce every game, but they've done jack crap so far this season.

Smith continues to sit while Weeks hits. Yup, he was scratched at the start of the game due to a groin issue... but it's the 8th inning and once again the game is on the line.

Oh well. Good thing it's still early in the season I guess?

What kills me more than anything is paying players like Cruz who get up there and look like a guy who was just promoted from AAA. Guy barely worked the pitch count, whiffed at HORRIBLE pitches (weren't even in strike zone)... I just don't get it.

I don't get it, either.

He said that he was going to have the mindset of going for solid contact rather than trying to drive it out of the park. But he's been nothing but hack-a-licious up there.

It's a little like Cano at the beginning of last year trying to be the hero and hit the long ball every AB. It took him a good month to change his approach, and understand how it wouldn't work at Safeco, and he was tremendous after that.

I hope Cruz figures it out, and LMC guides him.
