New drinking game! everytime a mariners announcer says: "no hits, no runs and a man left on" you take a shot, if they say "no hits, no runs and no one left on" you take two shots.

You should probably stop drinking. Might help your overall demeanor toward watching grown men play a game.

it's hard watching the mariners without drinking...

Almost as hard as saying anything remotely positive about them, right?

I was absolutely shocked to see you had posted here after a loss. Shocked, I tell you.

22 balls in play in the first 8 innings and only 2 find a hole. Bad luck with some decent pitching against them. Better than k'ing 10 times and only putting 14 balls in play. I will live with that loss...as long as it isn't something that repeats itself on a daily basis with our RH lineup in.

I was curious why we didn't go with Smith and Ackley to start the 9th with a RH pitcher in.

Yup. I didn't understand that choice either. Weeks started the 9th against a RH... WHY? Then we saw a shot of Ackley waiting to presumably replace Ruggiano... as if it was going to get to him with Cano batting and Seager on deck with two outs. Jackson had a good AB fouling off a few pitches then pretty much chased a heck of a pitch from Street. Fuck!

Through 2 games and it's not to say we should base it off of these games with one good and one horrible, but hopefully they find something in between.

Was at the game and it seemed like nothing was carrying to left. Jackson looked like he hit on the screws that looked like it would at least be a double but just died. After the HR Wilson looked dialed in. Just pounded the low part of the zone which made it tough to get deep into a count. I know we have seen games like this hundreds of times over the years but Wilson was good tonight.

I agree about smith and Ackley in the 9th. Hope LMC doesn't get to cute with match ups this year. He actually has a bench now so I hope he uses it when necessary. Oh well go win the series tonight.

That lineup is one thing I do not like about this platoon stuff. Smith should've been in the lineup and Weeks should've been on the bench. If Lloyd isn't comfortable with him in the outfield then why is he on the team, they just paid a boat load for their DH, Cruz only needs to be in the field in NL parks.

the radio guys drive me a little crazy

when they won yesterday, the talking heads extrapolated 90+ wins and talked about how the bottom of the lineup was a gazillion times better this year than last.

but when anybody extrapolates anything bad about the loss yesterday, they go with "oh stop whining, it's just one game."

would be nice if there were a radio program with guys who actually know something about baseball.

26,500 attendance for the second home game of the year. The ssecond home game attendance usually runs between 14,000-18,000.

So, is this a good sign? Can we expect better fan support for the team this year? Is it reasonable see them draw 2.5 million? Last year the attendance increased by 300,000 and it was their first time over 2 million since 2010. If it increased by 300,000 again, it will be their highest attendance since 2007.

i was concerned about two things regarding all of the platoon situations we have:

1) are the pieces even good?
2) can LMC run 3 different platoons (rf, lf, 1b) effectively? It's only his 2nd year in the hot seat.

I'm not drawing any conclusions yet.

Well that looked a lot like the offense we are used to. ouch

I don't know if CJ has gone back to being a solid lefty like he was prior to last year, o he still suck slike h did last year but we just can't ht lefties. If it is the latter, then the playoff lights just got a little dimmer.

I was wondering something similar in regards to platoons. Will LMC eventually stay with the hot bat regardless of match up or sit a slump? Something to look for as the season progresses.

That looked like the Mariners offense were used too! 20 outs in a row... NO runs... I know I know it's a marathon... BUT that was ugly...

Did anyone see Wilson's control last night? The dude was painting all night long, sometimes you have to tip your hat. Enough of this "good ol' M's" garbage, IT WAS ONE GAME! One game that their pitcher performed lights out, it's not always just about us. Game two and the whining begins, please just jump off the ledge now cause if you're whining now you won't make it through 162. :suds:

anybody who says not to read anything into game 2 needs to shut the fuck up about game 1 as well.

yes, it's only 2 games. so everybody needs to stop with the hyperbole, whether it be positive or negative.

as for the last 2 games, i don't care who is pitching. 2 for 22 from the heart of the lineup is comment-worthy no matter where it occurs in a season.

a positive that i take away from it is that seager, cano, and cruz have struck out only 1 time total.

anyhoo, i'm more positive about the lineup than i was before the season started. only a little concerned for seager. there's no way he can't be thinking of his horrific start last year.

Mariners first 15 games are in pitcher's parks: 9 in Seattle, 3 in Oakland and 3 in Dodger Stadium. So we could see some ugly offensive numbers to start the season.

On April 27th, game 16, they play in the hitter's paradise in Arlington.
