Cross-checks in the back on a player already on the ice are unlikely to result in a head injury. It's a penalty, and it's stupid, but it's not a major injury risk.

The other two were clearly suspendable offenses, though, and should have at least resulted in a meeting.

Well, they clearly aren't worried about plays like Jokinen's, they occur on a regular basis are never reviewed, and are fairly regularly not penalized during play.

The NHL always seems to give the benefit of the doubt when it comes to deliberate and ugly looking crosschecks to the head ... "oh oh his stick rode up the shoulder" .. fuck that! ... so many guys get away with it ... not the first time

surprised they even gave Martin Hanzal a 5k fine for crosschecking BOOTH in the head earlier this year

The second biggest announcer cliche behind "Your goalie has to be your best penalty killer" is "You are responsible for your stick". Someone needs to remind the league of that.

I'll admit when he was on the trade block I really wanted the Flyers to pursue him after all he is a very good & physical player. However after seeing him play more for the Pens he like Malkin is very prone to losing his temper and doing really stupid and dangerous things. He tends to head hunt though which is not only stupid and dangerous but unacceptable. I think he needs a lengthy suspension to get the point across 10+, but we all know that won't happen so I'm thinking it's either 2 or nothing.
