The thing is if he would have accepted responsibility and apologized for offending Tappen immediately (say next day after it happened), this would have blown over by now and who knows, maybe he has a job with TNT or ESPN for next season. By prolonging this further, he's pretty much guaranteed that no network is going to touch him.
