The org I coach for got to send a bunch of kids to Minnesota Hockey camps when Hartnell was here. One of our kids was a bit of a troublemaker but had so much potential if he could just play. TJ wound up taking him under his wing at that camp and helped him understand there's a time to be a dick and a time to play the right way and helped him understand the difference. TJ even made time to meet up with the kid the next few years whenever he was in town. Kid graduates this year and was head and shoulders our MVP this year. Only got one game misconduct

Oshie's one the dictionary pictures next to "hate playing him, wish he was on my team" for me.

Started off a little nasty tonight, but settled into a game and Oshie pays tribute to his father with the hat trick.

Special night for him and his family.

Not a lot of incredible concern for Anthony Mantha or condemnation of Buchnevich for a nasty cross check to the face intended to harm. Maybe not as nasty as Wilson's hit? Certainly more premeditated? Because Buch doesn't have Wilson's rep? Because Mantha isn't as talented as Panarin? Lots of factors, but I'm not going to tell anyone I think Buchnevich should be suspended.

I'm just going to continue to say objective standards and consistent discipline are needed.

I'm not sure anybody should be taking victory laps over what transpired tonight. What we saw tonight was the result of people at the highest executive levels of the NHL failing to do what needed to be done. I mean, it's pretty clear that the league doesn't care about player safety, so why should the fans? Hell, I posted earlier today that Bettman doesn't believe the science linking concussions and CTE, so why should we be surprised that banging a player's head against the ice results in no discipline from the league.

Also, I hope Anthony Mantha is going to be okay, but if he's angry at Buchnevich, his anger is misdirected. His anger should be mostly directed at the league, but he can't be too happy with Tom Wilson either. Going after Tom Wilson isn't going to change anything, but if I'm a skilled player on the Capitals, I'm keeping my head on a swivel. I'm certainly not condoning players taking matters into their own hands, but when the league fails to address a star player being injured on a non-hockey play (and yes, we as fans prefer to see star players dazzle us with their skill than being sidelined with an injury), that's going to be the likely outcome.
