NFL took a hit in its rating this season ... some attributed it to the lefty type politics that came into the league PLUS the election ... imo, a league like the nhl which isnt 100% americana probably was affected in a similar more subtle way

With so much winning going on, who has time to sit down and watch it on TV.

Looks like the 2 cup favorites Chicago and Washington may not make it out of the 1st round. Going to be wide open in the league IMO if those 2 get knocked out.

Yeah, Columbus; I do think that you're going to see some tweaking to the NHL playoff format once they get to 32 teams. Maybe 8 4 team divisions or go back to 1-8 with the 4 8 team divisions.

I have trouble blaming the system when after 3 games played there were 4 sweep opportunities and half of them were in favour of the lower seed, or when half of the 1 v WC matchups are guaranteed at least 6 games.

Sometimes, teams just get to the postseason and blow it. It happened under the old system all the time, it's not unique to this one and there's a ton of reasons for it.

Zach Werenski named finalist for Calder Memorial Trophy

Werenski has no chance at winning it, nor should he. But I am very pleased with the nod. Kid had a stunning season. Such a difference maker. He'll get other hardware someday, I hope.

I still think Doughty takes this one. He's got Cups and intangibles out the ying yang. I know he doesn't play as well as those other guys, or even really close, but he's a guy you win with. It's Doughty for me.
