Wait, not Willie like he said yesterday?

to be fair (i shouldnt be - lol) he did say Hitch was a possibility there yesterday

/which brought up an interesting discussion in the cesspool, when hitch said last summer that 2016-17 was going to be his last season as Blues head coach everyone took that as a retirement notice ... but it wasnt (obviously) ... which made his return to St Louis so odd to begin with ... why did St Lou bother bringing Hitch back ???

Nothing about that situation made any sense.

-Hitch had just taken the Blues to within a couple games of the Cup final. Why was he no longer welcome?

-Like you said, if he was no longer welcome why would he be brought back at all? If Yeo was lined up beforehand it's not like they would've fired their coach and then looked evil to possible replacements.

-With the amount of roster turnover (captain, goalie, key room guy Brouwer, at the time it was thought Shattenkirk would be dealt before the season...) they were doing why was that not looked at as the right time to change course?

-Why did they fire Hitch to salvage the season, then just as the season was being salvaged trade Shattenkirk for a pretty mediocre return instead of keeping him for what can very easily be a long playoff run?

It's been a very strange season in Nellyland.

see, those concourse attendees are paying off.
they have nothing better to do that buy 50/50 tix, considering they can't see the game.

I'm getting the feeling we're going to see a bunch of upsets this year. Only 1 home team won last night. I know it's early but still going to be interesting. Going to be fun to watch as the spring goes on.

Valiant effort by the Leafs last night. Got to wonder if that'll give them confidence for Game 2 or deflate them given they gave up a 2 goal lead and lost in overtime.

No surprise there, Stevens has been a name in the mix for quite a few jobs the past few years.

Per
Sports Business Daily assistant managing editor Austin Karp, NBC and NBCSN’s NHL viewership declined during the 2016–17 regular season. NBC averaged 1.23 million viewers for its 15 NHL games, down 20% from last season and the lowest NHL broadcast TV average on record (figures date back to ’93–94 season). The publication said NBCSN averaged 336,000 viewers for its 91 games, the league’s lowest average on cable TV since the ’11–12 season (332,000 viewers). Karp said this season was down 11% from 378,000 viewers in ’15–16, which was the league’s best full-season average on cable. As for combining TV and digital, NBC Sports averaged 475,000 viewers for the NHL, down 6% from last season.

NFL took a hit in its rating this season ... some attributed it to the lefty type politics that came into the league PLUS the election ... imo, a league like the nhl which isnt 100% americana probably was affected in a similar more subtle way

There weren't enough good American boys out there on the ice. Who wants to watch some Swede flopping around out there. It's embarrassing!!
