I guess a goal, assists and broken arm is the new Norwegian hat trick.

/at least it's better than a Patrick Thoresen hat trick.

Almost like the hockey gods may not have appreciated that whole “blame our two best players for everything” rant a few months ago.

Artemi Panarin, please step to the White courtesy phone.

We'll take picks. All of them.

Anderson had that puck frozen so well that a little jab by Tkachuk put it in the back of the net. No whistle, but no goal as well. Might as well be rules on napkins like MLS.

I tuned in just as they were announcing the no goal. So did they rule it goalie interference?

Yup, goalie interference where a goalie bobbles the puck and then covers it so well with his trapper that it ends up a half second later in his own net. I should add that it was originally ruled a goal by the on-ice official so they overturned the call after a 3 1/2 minute review.

Well, I am still in the goalie union. Looked on replay like he would have had the puck covered had the stick not made contact with his glove. And the rule is anything that prevents to goalie from playing his position is interference.

And it's actually called like 15% of the time :)

At 7:24 of the first period in the Flames/Senators game, Ottawa requested a Coach's Challenge to review whether Calgary's Matthew Tkachuk interfered with goaltender Craig Anderson prior to his goal.

After reviewing all available replays and consulting with the Referee, the Situation Room determined that Tkachuk impaired Anderson from freezing the puck in the crease and pushed his glove with the puck into the net. The decision was made in accordance with According to Rule 78.7, "The standard for overturning the call in the event of a "GOAL" call on the ice is that the NHL Situation Room (which shall include a former referee in the Officiating Department in the decision-making process), after reviewing any and all available replays and consulting with the Referee who made the original call, determines that the goal should have been disallowed due to "Interference on the Goalkeeper," as described in Rules 69.1, 69.3 and 69.4."

Therefore, the original call is overturned - no goal Calgary Flames.

Since the Coach's Challenge resulted in the original call being overturned, the Ottawa Senators retain their time-out.

Two problems with the above statement:

1. The puck was "frozen" outside the crease
2. Tkachuk did nothing to impair Anderson'a ability to make the save, it was a bang-bang play as a result of Anderson bobbling the puck. I mean it's pretty bad when you creating narrative to explain a no-goal.

To bad for Zucc. I've heard 4 weeks may be a best case for him with this injury.

What goes around comes around in Ottawa.

Let's see if they get this one right. Or at least the same.

If that Sens goal counts (exact same play as the Flames goal that got overturned), I'm gonna lose it.

2 Ryans and 2 Tkachucks in this game. Rick is on the ball for keeping them identified correctly.
