This is my favorite part

Some teams just should not talk smack. And you, Edmonton-boyo, are one of them.

As a Leaf fan, I know this rule (and have the sieves to prove it).

meh ... is it smack talk or is it a fact? ... cbj has a bad defense right now ... they have the worst ga/game in the league

/its not like he called a goalie a sieve when the stats say something else about that goalie lol

and Jwillis although probably a fanboy is one of the edm "media" guys who pretty much tells it like it is ... consistently embarrasses Dave Staples Coiler FAWN-boy act lol

jstew is correct above, Willis does "tell it like it is" more than fan-boy Staples, but it's hard to fathom the smugness and arrogance from Oilers fans after the past decade of futility from the Oilers. I mean, do they realize that this is the worst 10 year performance of any team in NHL history (and it's not even close).

Fair enough. But the last sentence is intriguing. Really? Worst 10 year performance ever? Not doubting it, just find it really interesting.

Off to the record books....

It could depend on how you quantify worst, but I think if you look at winning percentage over the last 10 years, you would be hard pressed to find a worst 10 year span for any NHL team than what the Oil have put up over the last decade.

Yeah, its been a rough couple of years but the ice in Edmonton is so good and its fun to play against them.

I agree up until the point where you start to make yourself, and thereby your organization, look bad. This is right on that line.

But hey, until it affects your performance or you end up on police blotters, I say have some fun.

I bet Habs management sits Alex down for a not-too-short chat about this though
.

Bet they had a picture of Kassian sitting on the desk

Scouts/Rockies/Devils had something like 15 years of futility, no? Maybe they just seemed worse because I was a kid, but I'd be shocked if they didn't have multiple 10 year stretches in there that were worse.

I think somebody on another board did some fairly deep analysis, I'll see if I can find it.

/Or maybe BGDave will provide an update.

I've got the Scouts/Rockies/Devils at 174-496-130 over their first 10 years. The Oilers over the last 10 years can't be anywhere close to that, even after accounting for the shootout/OT wins.

Edit: 308-383-95 for the Oilers. Not really close.

For an Original Six example I have the Blackhawks' record from '46 to '56 at 183-389-98.

I'm sure there are a few more, those were just the first two teams that came to mind (I thought of the Blackhawks because of Muldoon's curse)
