I have blocked out the dark years.
It wasnt 100% dark. There was a certain euro who many wanted to give up on who developed some chemistry with a young power forward from ontario :noidea:

Oh. For sure Doughty is better defensively than Karlsson. He's a fantastic player; one of the best D in the game.

I just feel that any shortcomings from Doughty tend to get overlooked because he "plays the compete game" while the Karlssons and Klingbergs get picked apart for just about everything.
They do.

But, this is why we rarely listen to the knucklehead announcers/pundits/reporters. I get much more value on these boards learning about players and their ins and outs than I do from any newspaper or tweet.

Leafs look like a serious contender tonight.
I am so conflicted right now.

I just feel like at some point the goals are going to dry up and the teams that are struggling right now (Montreal, Ottawa, TB) are going to start turning it around and make the gap between the Leafs and the playoffs too wide to make up by the deadline and they'll start moving pieces.

Having said that, the Leafs chose a great year to make a surprise playoff run and fall just short if that is what winds up happening - the gap between playoff spot and bottom 5 in the league right now is 5 pts. If they do start to falter, not too difficult to get back into the Matthews sweeps.

Zeisberger has his take on all of the trades in the Toronto Sun. There was one that... I'm not sure quite what the verb is for what it did to me

"ZIZE’S TAKE

While all the talk was about Lecavalier, the key to this deal is Schenn, whose physical style fits in well on a rugged team featuring Dustin Brown and Milan Lucic. Lombardi compared Schenn to injured blueliner Matt Greene. A good depth deal for Lombardi almost two months before the trade deadline."

What the fuck?
Why are you reading the Sun?

Well, you've got Jones and Murray. Like dash said, that's as good a young pair in the league as there is. Drouin would be a hell of an addition. Not a C but you still have Dubinsky...

The D on paper in two years looks solid, I admit.
Jones - Werenski
Murray - Goloubef
Paliota - Savard
Old Man Johnson

The problem is, short of a draft lottery win, there is nothing in the cupboard up front. Big, unmoveable contracts in the bottom six making top six money and really good forwards wasting in the minors getting impatient. In two years, 3 of Milano, Bjorkstrand, Rychel, Bittner, Karlsson, or Wennberg will be gone. Dano already is. I expect Karlsson gone before the deadline. Rychel too.

And Clarkson, Boll and Calvert remain.

Now there is talk of Werenski being used as bait too. For Drouin. A disgruntled guy who folds in the face of a dickhead coach. PERFECT!

Hey oprah ... Its me again ...

A season and a half of dishing the puck to Filip Forsberg should lessen that fear. Plus is Nashville plays to his ego and makes him the face of the franchise, he will be fine. He wouldn't be happy in Toronto or Chicago with all the scrutiny. He's a quiet kid. Nashville is a perfect spot for him.

That's...not encouraging stuff really. Really though, just those top ones are super rough. Although the Nash deal...if they move Rychel...not so great.

It points to an inherent problem in the franchise. They've always done it. It's little man syndrome. They want the big name splash with no consideration for the possible downside. Federov, Foote, Carter, Huselius, Gaborik, Horton. They just want to run out there and say "Look, we're big boys and our mommy says we're handsome. WE GOT THIS BIG NAME GUY!!" (We only moved this many future stars).

Crash, burn, repeat.

And then you add in the fact that this team has had exactly two franchise players in their history, both drafted and developed. And they've run both out of town on a rail with the exact same talking points. Doesn't care. No heart. Wants something else. They can't even be creative when their failures to build anything around stars manifests itself in a down season.

Rick Nash never wanted to leave. I know this. I doubt Johansen did either.

I have blocked out the dark years.

Any tips on how? I'm only two years into mine. Good news is they should be over in five or so.

Hahaha all your teams suck! The Habs have won 2 of 3 and all their problems are behind them. Max P is heatin' up, no stopping them!

Can't wait to watch them beat Pittsburgh Saturday*!

*only likely possible if the Habs hold them to 2 goals or less

You act as if this isn't likely.

Lord help you if the Jackets get a Russian star at any point (a non-Bob version...Russian goalies don't seem to fall under the same scrutiny that forwards do).

Ottawa is starting to get healthy again. Normally this would be a good thing except of the fact that it appears this will only result in decent or good young players shifting to popcorn row and more ice-time for Zack Smith, Chris Neil and Mark Borowiecki. :trash:

Fucking Cameron has gone crazy.

I dropped Craig Anderson in my fantasy league, so I know the Senators will turn it around. You're welcome.

In the 2010 draft class was considered to be one of the best defensemen - I could see the Oilers putting a claim in.

Harder to play a "finesse" game at the goalie position?

I'm sure Don Cherry (or Canada's hockey Donald Trump) can still find a way.

On second thought:

Been told that Tokarski deal isn't response to Gibson getting hurt. Injury isn't considered to be serious. Day to day in literal sense.
