I looked for the video but they were pretty poor quality. It looked like they scrummed on the boards, Karlsson may have grabbed his sick and after Vlasic git it free he went for a retaliatory slash/spear. It was a total dick move. I can't tell whether his intention was the face or to injure and I've given up on trying to understand the NHL's disciplinary guidelines but I will say that this doesn't sway my initial comment: Fuck Mike Hoffman.

Well two can play that game. It's pretty easy to make an argument that Hoffman was trying to just crosscheck Couts in the upper back and his stick just rode up Dillon's stick and hit his head. Given Hoffman's track record that's more plausible. However you slice it he shouldn't be taking retaliatory crosschecks. It was reckless and he deserves a suspension.

The fact that Vlasic won't get so much as a game is pure bullshit. Watch the video below and look for two things:
1) In the first clip of the incident, take note of the sens bench. Their reaction is a bit strong for a maybe slash. He speared him in the head area. This reminds me of the Devils bench when Domi cheapshotted Niedermayer.

2) In the second clip you can see Vlasic spear, yes spear and not slash, the head and neck area of Karlsson. To me there's not much doubt here. The intent here is a at least as clear as Hoffman's play.

Hoffman deserves to sit but the more I watch it, the more I think Vlasic is a piece of shit who needs to sit for 5+ games.

Justin Schultz is leading the NHL in +/- with a +18 mark. It's amazing what happens when you get the Oilers stink off.

And limit a flawed player's minutes so he has the best chance to succeed.

I want to be clear, I am in no way trying to minimize Vlasic's spear. It was a dangerous and unnecessary. I have no issue with others calling him out for it or looking for a suspension.

I'll continue to say 'Fuck Mike Hoffman' and if others want to say condemn Vlasic for that spear, I won't argue. It was a total asshole move.

I mentioned Sullivan has been limiting Schultz's minutes, but he's got the most on the team with Letang out and Daley hurt late in the second period. Over 17 minutes through 2 periods, and he hasn't really looked exposed.
