Was this before or after Vlasic tried to pig roast Karlsson's face with his stick?
Oh I had already gotten out of my seat and started cleaning up for the night. As soon as you saw him as the 3rd shooter you should have known it was going to happen and been prepared
I didn't see that play, I got home and turned the game on in the third. If it was as egregious as Hoffman's, sit them both for a handful of games.
wow. no one.
Bryan seems like a fine person, and he did coach the Sens to their best season in their (very young) franchise history, but, really? In 9 seasons as GM:
.482 win percentage
5 playoff appearances
1 playoff series victory
5 coaches
1 bonus to Dany Heatley
Seems like a pretty low bar to be setting.
Not saying that's a bad thing, and Murray is a local guy so there's that element too, but Burns won 3 JA's and a Cup. What do they even put up on the video screen as a tribute? 2007 ECF, Karlsson smiling and Lazar eating a burger off the ice?Yeah but he had to put up with Melnyk's insanity for more than a decade.
Seriously though, it's pretty much just a nice gesture from the org. Let him enjoy it and don't pull a Bettman/Burns kind of thing. I have no problem with it.

They're busy pressing the name "Iginla" onto a banner.Just get it done before Colorado catches wind of it.
/low hanging fruit.
team ring of hono(u)rs are a team call and I co(u)ld care less about debating whethe(u)r someo(u)ne is or isnt wo(u)rthy of a team hono(u)r ... its what the hono(u)ree means to(u) their fans
What was wrong with Todd Gill? He was before my time but from what I understand he was a decent if nothing special d-man, had a few above-average years, was a Leaf draftee etc.Yeah. I mean it's not like they released a top 100 players list that includes Todd Gill. That just seems so much more worthy.

If you really wanted to do the "why you talking when your team's dumber" route, you could've thrown out Tie Domi or Dion Phaneuf (last one might be a bit of a sore spot though).
To be fair would there be top 100's from the other five O6 teams that would have someone that much better at 84? Ken Campbell at THN did a top 100 Habs a few years ago and while obviously that isn't an official team list, the fact he had Rick Green at 84 surrounded by Glen Harmon and Pierre Larouche tells me it's probably just really hard to come up with 100 players to call great.Phaneuf and Kessel are also pretty dumb given recent history.
I was a Leaf fan as a kid (all you'd get on TV in those days) and Todd Gill was the definition of a replacement level player. Maybe make a top 25 but when your list has to run to that guy, it ain't much of a list.
But going back to Jstew's point, if the org wants to do, let 'em have some fun and honour who they want.
One smart thing the Canucks did in 97 was match his offer sheet from the Leafs.on that note ... Mattias Ohlund enters the canucks ring of hono(u)r tonight ... judgin by the # of Mattias in my sons hockey league, he was a fan favorite or hall of fame philanderer
It was worse, IMO. It was behind the play so the footage isn't as good but here it is, an attempted pitchfork to the face. Luckily just got him in the neck and he didn't grovel around quite like Couts did. Karlsson was not pleased.
