Kris Russell to Edmonton appears to be a done deal as well...
John Shannon @JSportsnet
Yakupov to St Louis for a conditional pick.
That's it?!?
Edit: For Zach Pochiro and the conditional pick is a 2017 3rd rounder.
Blues acquire Yakupov from Oilers
And to think... We were all pissed that they were getting so many high lottery picks.For those of you not keeping score at home, 2 1st OAs picks have netted the Oilers the following:
Adam Larsson, a throw in ECHL player, and a 2017 3rd round pick that might (I stress might) become a 2018 2nd round pick.
That's it.
Similarly, good trade by the Blues. Low cost, big potential reward, and an opportunity to hide him if he doesn't work out. It'll be interesting to see if the Blues' structure and talent on the blue line will provide Yak with some freedom offensively.
Just spitballing here:
Yak - Stastny - Tarasenko
Yeah, I think he can make that a second round pick.
MSP = Magnus Paajarvi?With Yak in St. Lou, I really wish MSP was a center, so you could have one of the "biggest disappointments who were all former Oilers" line of all time.
Perron - MSP - Yak
With Perron, I'm blown away that $4.5 million buys you a soft player who scores 40 points.
MSP = Magnus Paajarvi?
Even though he's an obvious disappointment, of the guys who were drafted in the next 20 spots after him there aren't many guys who would be considered successes at #10. The 2009 draft was pretty awful overall after the 7th pick (although the Oilers definitely could use Ryan Ellis, who went one spot after).
I hope Yak scores a hat trick when he returnsTrue. I will also admit, I was an MSP fan pre-draft. I hope the same sort of stuff doesn't happen to Pulju in Edmonton. Hopefully that fucking Palace that they built boosts morale.
