Kris Russell to Edmonton appears to be a done deal as well...

Similarly, good trade by the Blues. Low cost, big potential reward, and an opportunity to hide him if he doesn't work out. It'll be interesting to see if the Blues' structure and talent on the blue line will provide Yak with some freedom offensively.

The 3rd round conditional pick becomes a 2nd round pick if Yak can score 15+ goals next season for St. Louis.

Taken from HF Oilers:

"If we can't get at least a first round pick for him, we'll just hold on to him until he bounces back."-Oilers fans trade threads circa 2014

"We're not moving Yakupov for a 2nd round pick. That's stupid. Why would we sell low?"-Oilers fans trade threads circa 2015

"Trading Yakupov for a third would be stupid......we can get so much more when he bounces back."Oilers fans trade threads circa 2016

"Who the hell is Zach Pochiro"-Oilers fans OCT 2016

For those of you not keeping score at home, 2 1st OAs picks have netted the Oilers the following:

Adam Larsson, a throw in ECHL player, and a 2017 3rd round pick that might (I stress might) become a 2018 2nd round pick.

That's it.

Also, somehow Kris Russell still managed to get a half million dollar raise on what he was making last season just prior to the start of the season. I mean, he couldn't have had very much leverage.

And to think... We were all pissed that they were getting so many high lottery picks.
It's nice that they ended up spending that around anyway.

Just spitballing here:
Yak - Stastny - Tarasenko

Yeah, I think he can make that a second round pick.

And Yak is RFA at the end of the season. Low cost, easy out and a contract year.

Shit, I would have gladly given Prout for him. Unless we trade Prout for Cam Fowler.

With Yak in St. Lou, I really wish MSP was a center, so you could have one of the "biggest disappointments who were all former Oilers" line of all time.

Perron - MSP - Yak

With Perron, I'm blown away that $4.5 million buys you a soft player who scores 40 points.

MSP = Magnus Paajarvi?

Even though he's an obvious disappointment, of the guys who were drafted in the next 20 spots after him there aren't many guys who would be considered successes at #10. The 2009 draft was pretty awful overall after the 7th pick (although the Oilers definitely could use Ryan Ellis, who went one spot after).

True. I will also admit, I was an MSP fan pre-draft. I hope the same sort of stuff doesn't happen to Pulju in Edmonton. Hopefully that fucking Palace that they built boosts morale.

Really surprised by Toronto waiving Laich. Guess Babcock's liking can only take you so far.

On the other hand, with the team taking the hit and sending Greening to the A, it sounds like @DragonfromTO was right about Prust sticking around. Still need to make 2 more cuts, of course.
