Ex-Canuck Dave Babych rescues injured girl from North Shore trail

Fortunately, a large, burly man with a thick moustache suddenly appeared. Sports fans would have recognized him as Dave Babych, who played for the Canucks during the team’s 1994 playoff run.

The teenagers had no idea who he was, only that he was there to help and he was wearing a thick black sweater. They later discovered he was actually shirtless and covered with body hair

I find it hard to believe that after your showing up shirtless somewhere unexpectedly someone else described you as being "there to help". Unless there's some Cree word that sounds like "help" but really means "hide yo kids hide yo wife".

He's called "Dash" for a reason.

“For me, it’s trying to stay out of that kind of stuff and kind of picking my spots better,” Kane said Thursday.

At the same time, Kane blamed his recent legal problems on something that “happens to athletes or people in a position such as myself.”

“Those are things you just have to deal with. They kind of come with the territory,” he said. “But in saying that, you have to be a little bit more aware and kind of put yourself on a higher pedestal than maybe you think you are.”

Geez, this guy is a real piece of work, isn't he?

Sabres Kane blames legal issues on being targeted as athlete

Evander Kane is a jewel for sure, got to wonder how much longer he has left to play in the NHL.

It's possible they leave him unprotected but I think given that they gave up a top 4 d-man and a 1st rounder for him they're banking on him STFU and putting up points next to Eichel and Okposo this year and hopefully being attractive to someone via trade.

If they wind up giving him away and the Sabres barely improve this year I could see Pegula gettin itchy and Murray maybe even getting canned.

I'm certainly not going to argue that the Sabres won that trade somehow, but Myers wasn't really a top 4 d-man anymore, at least not in the objective sense. Maybe on a bad team like the Sabres, but his performance had declined steadily from his ROY season until he got shipped out.

Kane is still a disaster - hence why they definitely still lost the trade - but the difference between Myers as a Sabre and BoGo is pretty negligible at this point. Which is to say, if they don't take Kane, I hope LV takes BoGo and would have felt the same about Myers.

I never rated Myers all that much and he does need to be paired with a more defensive guy (and the Jets usually do that with Enstrom) but I'd still take him as a second pair guy over what 75% of the league has on their second pair, Leafs included. On a team that can actually play well offensively I think he's capable of 30-35 pts. Not sure why that wouldn't be considered top 4 material.

And he's miles better than Bogosian, and it isn't really close:
