Doubt they want a prospect at the Centre of any deal. They need to make the postseason or big guys might be out of a job. I'm sure they want an NHL lefty.
I read somewhere they want a Left D with a similar skill level.

Which they should be able to get.I read somewhere they want a Left D with a similar skill level.

Jets have yet to comment. Trouba stressed this is not about the city or team, but his desire to play right side. More to come.
Which, as we know, doesn't matter at all.and a guy who is at least 2 feet shorter than the league average.
I agree that Maatta and Trouba are somewhat comparable (although handedness aside I'd probably prefer Maatta) but given the fact that handedness is an issue here I don't know why the Jets would take money back unless there was something like a 1st round pick or decent prospect involved.Intriguing thought seen on the internet: Maatta, Fehr, for Trouba. Not gonna happen, but an interesting thought regardless. Pens could use a RD, Maatta and Trouba are comparable, Fehr for salary relief.

I don't think the Jets have much leverage in this situation but I still don't see them making a deal where they're giving up the guy with a higher value and taking money to make it work. You only get so many Phil Kessel deals.Because the Pens would need it to make the deal work money-wise, and it's only one more year, position of weakness, yadda yadda. And I'm not sure that I'd necessarily do it, but the Pens have a RD shortage. I honestly don't see it happening, but it's an interesting idea if you could pair it up as Dumolin-Letang, Pouliot-Trouba. I think the Pens love Maatta too much for this to ever happen, but when you consider his health issues, it's an interesting concept.

I know but what's the kicker lol. What's enticing the Jets to make that move if they believe (correctly) they have the more valuable trade chip? An overpaid 4th liner? They'd also be getting a comparable player at $4M/6 years.
Marchand signs extension in Boston. Just over $6M per, 8 years.
Well, that's step 1 , now all the B's need to do is to get Crosby.
I think agents get a bad rap. GM's negotiate just as ruthlessly but fans seem to give them a pass by and large.
Trouba wanted to address the media in Winnipeg, but his agent said no way.
So, how many people in the league do you suppose would love the opportunity to drive a bullet train over Kurt's scrotum?

The only difference between the two is agents negotiate on behalf of the guys fans actually pay money to see whereas GM's negotiate on the behalf of billionaire owners.
Who's to say he isn't, though? Who's to say there isn't another GM that would pay that?Wait until he convinces Kerby Rychel that he should be getting at least as much as Marian Gaborik year after next.
He used Toews as a "comparable" for Johansen and started that mess a couple years ago. And he's a major factor in why Dubinsky makes 5.85. He's probably telling Trouba he is every bit as good as Doughty. I'll let a Vancouver fan chime in on the Kesler thing.
