1. I never said this the NEW worst thing ever. It's just fucking bad, whether the asshole in question plays for the Canucks or the Senators or any other team, or whether he played in 1970, 1985 or 2015. It's fucking bush league. And the fact that others have done it does NOTHING to absolve Burrows from being a piece of human garbage.

its why i brought up the "NEW" worst thing ever ... because it seems like the outrage today is magnified vis a vis yesteryears trangressions ... social media of course ... and sure people care more because societies values have changed ... if it (trashtalk) all went away id be fine with it

Well ... Up until a couple of years ago (or less) they handed out spots to guys who were just there to fight ... i know i know ... thats the good part of the code ... defend the star blah blah blah

it was a dont ask dont tell league ... going back to Fleury, people in the hockey world knew what Graham James did to him (and nothing happened to Graham James which is more heinous to me), guys trash talked him about it before it became public

Did Theo say that guys said stuff to him before ANY abuse by James was public though? Don't get me wrong either one is terrible and way way over the line, but I'm curious whether the players in question knew what James had done to Fleury specifically or just knew what had happened to Sheldon Kennedy and that Fleury had played for James as well.

yes he did .. i dont specifically know the answer to the second part of your q but theres this ...

Theo Fleury is on the phone from Calgary. He’s asked if anyone brought up Graham James during his playing days.

“It happened,” he says. “Not a lot. I’d say less than five times. But it happened.”

Fleury played his last NHL game in 2003. The first public disclosure of the sexual abuse he suffered from James came in his autobiography, which was published in 2009. Still, it was known among some players long before then and, apparently, the topic wasn’t off-limits.

“I didn’t have the skills I have now,” Fleury says of the taunts. “I didn’t understand they were a reflection of the other person, not me. But I can tell you, it hurt.”

Yeah, the Penguins are terrible, Crosby had a good night tonight but they need help on defense big time. If it means trading Malkin then so be it.

Personally if I were 28th in the league in goals and 5th in goals against I'm not sure that trading my leading goal scorer would be the move I'd be looking to make.

Shoulda kept Niskanen and let Letang go.
Shoulda dumped Scuderi instead of Orpik.
Shoulda kept Shero when Disco Dan was sent packing.

I don't think you guys are seeing the long term brilliance of the Pens' recent moves. We know that trading Phil Kessel to the Leafs has helped teams in the past build a Stanley Cup winner. Well, the only way to trade Phil Kessel to the Leafs is to FIRST GET Phil Kessel.

I think it would have pretty been tough to move Letang back when Niskanen was up for free agency, since he'd just had the stroke less than a year into an eight year contract. Just an unfortunate break and really bad timing.

Ohh FFS.

Tell your daughter to throw this one back in that girl's face.

You know the difference between your mother and a washing machine??

A washing machine doesn't follow Papa-dash around for 3 weeks after he dumps a load in it.
Papa-dash. I think that's a good all-around description for our beloved Flames fan. Love it.

It's not time to resurrect the Crosby - Ovechkin debates, is it?

What's funny about it now, is my argument in support of Sid (and honestly, I've never loved the debate because they're so very different) has been his consistency...and welp.

Shero created this monster. And Rutherford let it grow. Should've just handed the team to Botterill.
