So glad they didn't call Jim Kelly for being in the crease.

I should also make it clear that I am very much against any expansion right now. The NHL talent pool is still not quite enough to support the teams we have. I mean guys like Jared Boll have regular NHL jobs. There's not enough talent to go around. In fact, I wouldn't mind seeing a retraction of two teams at this point.

I don't think NHL should expand at all, but they seem hell bent on it because they want to make money back up from the last money pit/downward spiral they financed. Vegas is the worst of ideas because it could be an even bigger financial disaster than Phoenix. Seattle, Quebec or Milwaukee at least has a shot at being profitable in 4 years. Look how long it took San Jose and Anaheim to be financially sound. Columbus is just getting there and we're on year 15ish.

I mighta went with David Clarkson, but agree with your points.

I know I am in the minority, but I think there is plenty of talent for 32 teams. I just am not in favor of expansion while some existing markets are doing poorly. I'd move two teams (Phoe, I mean Arizona and Boston) then if in a couple years things were better I'd revisit expansion.

Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie
Cam Ward is on the verge of signing a two-year contract extension with CAR.

One less goalie on the UFA market for July 1

I certainly hope it's for a hell of a lot less than what his last contract was for.

But like...don't they want to win? Give some shitty UFA a one year overpay.

Although I guess a two year overpay is kinda the same almost.

They don't want to go through the cap floor problem next year too?

I'm preparing myself for the fact that James Reimer is going to e signed by the Calgary Flames on July 1st.

/If he can replicate his numbers with the Leafs, it could work out (fingers crossed).

Halak could be your goalie next season. Isles are looking to trade him.

I'd rather have Reimer over Halak for the main reason that the Flames don't have to part with an asset to acquire Reimer.

Absolutely - I think I would as well. But things that make sense usually don't happen.

Engelland seems like a Capuano type of player, ergo, Engelland = asset

No question Engelland is overpaid (probably biggest mistake BT has made to date), but he's now in his last year of his contract and he's a versatile guy (can play up front if needed). I'd rather just keep him as a depth defenseman and have him finish out his contract and then say bye-bye.
