i think its still important to the players to go.

I don't see the importance. I'd much rather the World Cup take off and lose the gimmicky bullshit in the future.

until world cup takes off (that's more of a gimmick, imho), Olympics is the only opportunity for the country's best-on-best to face off.

If the WC is even remotely successful this September, the NHL can turn it into a reason to skip the Olympics and commit 100% to their own tourney. I'm more than fine with that.
