They're just lucky the east was by and large shit this year. Or unlucky, because they could've used a lottery go.

Did anybody on the Wings not regress stat-wise this year? It's one thing if one or two of your players have off-years, but some of these guys lost a lot of production and it's the younger guys too, not just Zetterberg or Pavel. That's gotta be a worrisome trend.

I think it's just difficult to replace a guy like Lidstrom, he just controlled so many aspects of the game when he was on the ice and just a great QB on the PP (one only needs to look at the Wings PP during this playoff series to see how much they miss the guy).

Yeah, Detroit had a lacklustre series against Tampa Bay. Got to think they make a splash this off-season especially if Datsyuk leaves the team.

Since Lidstrom retired Zets and Dats have been the engine that drove the Wings. They appeared to be in decline this year (especially down the stretch and into the playoffs). I think that just filtered down to the other, younger, offensive players. Except for Nyquist he just didn't look right.

Actually, top to bottom, the East was slightly better than the West this year.

Dater and Roy make it hard. And Varly. And McLeod. Then again Iggy. But in terms of fans...I dunno, never really had issues with their fans? I know like...one?
