Hey, 2nd overall is a really good consolation prize when you don't trade the player you pick for a shitty overpaid d-man.Fucking draft lottery.
Got to think Ken Hitchcock is out as Blues coach tomorrow if they lose tonight.
At what point does the coach stop getting the blame and ownership starts looking a little further up the food chain?Peter Laviolette should probably start getting boxes ready too.
To have a chokehold on a team with wins in their barn and then get eliminated at home?

Never?
Don Cherry said it "That's the way. 30 guys are lousy and the coach always gets the short end of the stick".
I don't think there's anything wrong with Lavy as a coach, and would much prefer him over the one I have, but his boys looked dead flat at home with a 2-0 lead in the series on the top seed. If you can't get your team fired up in that situation, maybe the team should look at why you can't.
That said when your team has Neil AND Ribeiro in big roles, management has made mistakes.
I've said it before and it warrants repeating - David Poile is the most overrated GM in the NHL and it isn't close.I agree. Any gm who employs rat boy should get his walking papers.
Okay this one I just don't get. Is this like Marc Crawford, just someone trying to get their face out there and say "i'm available and highly interested" despite there not being anybody actually interested in them? Why would anybody do this? Why? WHY WHY WHY?
/He'll be an Oiler next week.

Not every rebuild takes a decade...
No, but it generally takes missing the playoffs for at least 4-5 seasons in a row and acquiring some high draft picks, something the Wings haven't done in the last 25 years.
There's a fine line between a team missing the playoffs repeatedly despite their best efforts and when a rebuild actually starts. The Leafs have been putrid for 12 years but they've only really been re-building for a little over a year thanks to delusional management. No, but it generally takes missing the playoffs for at least 4-5 seasons in a row and acquiring some high draft picks, something the Wings haven't done in the last 25 years.
The Wings risk going down the same road the Flames went down, where the team kept losing in the first round and rather than bite the bullet they kept making dumb additions thinking that would do the trick.
Eh. They're no worse overall than Minny was this year, and they were 19-5-4 vs. the Western teams in 2014-15. I'm sure they would've been fine in that weak conference.I think you could make a good case that they have already started down that path, BBB. The worst thing that happened to the Wings was moving to the Eastern Conference, I don't think they make the playoffs if they would have remained out West the last couple of years (especially if they played in the Central Division).
