Got to think Ken Hitchcock is out as Blues coach tomorrow if they lose tonight.

Peter Laviolette should probably start getting boxes ready too.

To have a chokehold on a team with wins in their barn and then get eliminated at home?

At what point does the coach stop getting the blame and ownership starts looking a little further up the food chain?

Never?

Don Cherry said it "That's the way. 30 guys are lousy and the coach always gets the short end of the stick".

I don't think there's anything wrong with Lavy as a coach, and would much prefer him over the one I have, but his boys looked dead flat at home with a 2-0 lead in the series on the top seed. If you can't get your team fired up in that situation, maybe the team should look at why you can't.

That said when your team has Neil AND Ribeiro in big roles, management has made mistakes.

I agree. Any gm who employs rat boy should get his walking papers.

Filip Forsberg is a great young player as is RyJo, but they are still too young to be pulling the Nashville bus. The Preds really need more guys in that 25-29 age range because the rest of their forwards are pretty meh.

/When James Kneel isn't putting the puck in the net, he's a liability on the ice.

I've said it before and it warrants repeating - David Poile is the most overrated GM in the NHL and it isn't close.

Okay this one I just don't get. Is this like Marc Crawford, just someone trying to get their face out there and say "i'm available and highly interested" despite there not being anybody actually interested in them? Why would anybody do this? Why? WHY WHY WHY?

/He'll be an Oiler next week.

I want to see a Oilers line of Yakupov - Yakimov - Radulov with Bob Cole doing the play-by-play.

I'm a fan...mostly because I love Patric Hornqvist and don't feel dirty cheering for him to succeed, unlike certain other former Penguins. Seriously, I don't miss Neal at all. I know he and Geno were great together, but watching him lose his mind on the ice just got so damn old.

Not every rebuild takes a decade...

No, but it generally takes missing the playoffs for at least 4-5 seasons in a row and acquiring some high draft picks, something the Wings haven't done in the last 25 years.

Maintaining true contention is hard, and this seems to be the price of their runs in the 2000s. Heck, a big reason they were able to contend for so long was finding gems in the late rounds. But really since 2009 they've beating the Coyotes twice, and Ducks once, not getting past second round. Now, it's not like there's a ton of teams with much more success than this, but it sure seems like they've hit a rut and are stuck in mediocrity. Not saying they should tank, but saying they need some change.

There's a fine line between a team missing the playoffs repeatedly despite their best efforts and when a rebuild actually starts. The Leafs have been putrid for 12 years but they've only really been re-building for a little over a year thanks to delusional management.

The Wings risk going down the same road the Flames went down, where the team kept losing in the first round and rather than bite the bullet they kept making dumb additions thinking that would do the trick.

I think you could make a good case that they have already started down that path, BBB. The worst thing that happened to the Wings was moving to the Eastern Conference, I don't think they make the playoffs if they would have remained out West the last couple of years (especially if they played in the Central Division).

Eh. They're no worse overall than Minny was this year, and they were 19-5-4 vs. the Western teams in 2014-15. I'm sure they would've been fine in that weak conference.
