Still a slim chance the Leafs get the 30th overall. If they lose to the Lumbus it's two playoff teams and the Devils to lose to.

Hopefully with Virtanen back the Oilers can at least beat the Canucks once in their final home-and-home with them.

Oilers still get the #1 pick.

I don't know if Joni Ortio can be a No. 1 goalie, but he certainly appears to be a capable backup.

As soon as I find that clip, it will be posted in the "Comedy gold out of Edmonton" thread. That was tremendous.
The HNIC guys for once weren't wrong afterward - that was about as blunt as I've heard a coach in this league. That's a man who takes a lot of pride in his work looking at his players and feeling nothing but disgust toward them.

The core is rotten and worse I don't think they give a damn. Keep McDavid and Draisaitl, the rest the Oilers need to ship out of town.

Kadri, Gardner and the PIT first this year for Connor.

/too early for trades at the draft

If the Leafs are going to make any trades I'd much rather them be for a defenceman. They've drafted enough promising forwards (assuming they draft another with their pick) that they can allow them to develop and make a few signings and evaluate in a year or two if they have a legit top six or not.

If they're gonna move Kadri, Gardiner, Bozak, JVR or PIT's 1st rounder I'd much rather it be to Colorado for Tyson Barrie or Anaheim for Hampus Lindholm. A top pair guy is a far bigger need at the moment.

Last night, the HNIC panel were speculating about who the Flames should target as a potential number one goalie. Both Nick Kypreos and Kelly Hrudey went with Ben Bishop of Tampa, of course that likely hinges on whether or not the Bolts re-sign Stamkos. Elliotte Friedman suggested Brian Elliott of St. Louis. The other thing to keep in mind is if the expansion draft takes place this year and teams can only protect one goalie, there could be some pretty good netminders up for grabs.

I think Bishop could be expendable regardless - TB has a lot of contract renewals pending and a promising young goalie in the pipeline. I think the flip side is TB would probably try to convince any team trading for Bishop to take Carle's contract as well.

James Reimer is 5-2 with a .927 sv% since joining SJ. If they roll with him in the playoffs and he steals a round for them, he'll be a hot commodity.

Anybody watching the Hawks crushing the Bruins this morning/early afternoon? Sure looks like they are missing Keith.

Patrick Kane now with 100 points on the season and poised to become the first American to win the Art Ross.

So the 6 goal lead, not the 5, is the worst in hockey.

By the way, HNIC had a shoutout to Willi Plett last night (first goal scored by a Flame at Northlands/Skyreach/Rexall)
