I am drawing a blank (but I'll be kicking myself later)

You'll definitely recognize the name (and kick yourself). The answer is Reed Larson.

While I certainly remember him as a top finisher from the point I never would have guessed he had more 20 goal seasons than Gonchar, Weber and Lidstrom combined.

You can tell it's getting to the Sedins, calling out teammates for lack of effort and Daniel shoved Tommy Wingels from behind into the boards last night, the Swedes are angry.
Best case scenario for the Canucks is they demand trades post-season.

They're sliding about as bad as the Leafs did last year. Leafs spent the next 10 months dumping almost everything with a hint of value and now the future appears to be bright. Canucks are pretty much guaranteed a top 5 pick now in a deep draft, they'd be wise to do the same.

Im calling the canucks to drop at least one spot from their finishing position in the lottery draft though ... its just the way our franchise history rolls
Not a bad thing unless they suddenly climb to 21st overall.

The "big 3" are shiny but I have little reason to believe anybody currently expected to go 4-8 are incapable of matching or exceeding those guys' career potential. Honestly think this year and last year's draft will do wonders in terms of adding skilled top-line forwards to a league desperately in need of them.

Well Shinky got his first NHL goal which is nice and Gio hits the 20 goal mark (also nice).

/Al MacInnis registered 20+ goals 6 times with the Flames - I know goal scoring was easier back in his day, but man, that's still incredible.
And the only reason that streak ended was because he dislocated his hip.

Al will always be my favourite d-man. I woulda killed for him to have been a Leaf on those 90s teams.

Tell you what Canucks fans, since you traded us a backup goaltender for a top ten pick we'll do the same. You give us your first this year and you can have Scott Wedewood. He was 2-1-1 during his brief stint up here and had a .957 save percentage and 1.25 GAA, you project that over a 10 year career, this guy is a hall of famer. Don't miss your chance, you'll be kicking yourselves.

Odd. I was hearing such good things about Smith.

On a waiver-related note, whatever Babcock & Co. were feeding Corrado during all those healthy scratches, it has paid off. He's been fantastic stats-wise skating alongside Gardiner since they traded 410 (did I do that right??).

The Smith move was probably done to free a spot under the 50 contract limit. With the college season having ended they'll need to make some decisions on signings, and dropping Smith might give them the room they need to sign Cameranesi (Edit: I googled and see now that they did indeed sign Cameranesi yesterday, so that was almost certainly the reason for dropping Smith I think)

And while I always prefer a guy putting up good numbers my excitement is a little dampened here just because of the fact that pretty much everyone has put up better numbers when playing with Gardiner (and significantly so). But like I said, it's still good to see. Plus, he's right-handed and all.

It was almost perfect BBB - As a reminder:

210 - Moniker for Dion Phaneuf
410 - Number of goals a guy who claimed he attended Harvard said the Oilers would score in the 2006-07 season.

His numbers have been good sans Jake as well.

Never know what the future holds but it is definitely good to see.

Five-year-old goes to ER, returns to hockey game

Good enough for me, expand to San Antonio Mr. Dwarfus Horriblus.

Reminds me of a story. I went to a game at the old Continental Airlines Arena 14 years ago where I was seated behind a drunk couple and their two young sons. The husband was mostly just loud but the wife was especially obnoxious, mouthing off specifically to me for being a Leaf fan several times and encouraging her kids to do the same while continually referring to them loudly as the "Queefs". You know, typical classy shit.

Anyway, at the second intermission the family got up to do whatever and the wife drunkenly slipped and thumped her head going down the steps. The husband left the kids with a seat neighbour that I'm assuming he knew and went off with the EMTs and his wife. He came back up with about 12 minutes left in the 3rd period and told their sons that mom was going to be ok but they had taken her to the hospital.

The eldest got his coat off the seat and said "So we're going to the hospital dad?"

"Well not until after the game, there's still a lot of time left"

They stayed right through overtime. My wife was completely horrified by the entire experience.

I wouldn't have left, either.
