So I believe tonight is game 20 missed for Dennis Wideman - That's sure as hell one heck of a fine expedited appeals process the NHL has in place.

It's beyond farce now, but I think I posted the other day that the appeal itself may be to blame here. Bettman taking his sweet ass time? No problem. Independent arb taking forever to come to a verdict? That makes it seem like this was far more complicated than we were led to believe.

I think the easy solution is to allow the player to play while it's being appealed. How that wasn't in the CBA is beyond me and a really dumb oversight by Fehr (especially considering that is how it works in baseball).

Habs announce P.K. Subban was released from hospital late last night and that his neck injury is not considered serious.

Noticing the Jets are only 4 pts ahead of the Leafs in the standings with an extra game played.

It would be kinda funny to see the Jets wind up with Matthews just to know that Bettman would likely fly into a rage having watched 3 potential superstars enter the league in two years and seen them wind up in Edmonton, Buffalo and Winnipeg.

I'd like Calgary to land Matthews so that he starts his NHL career in a rink that Bettman hates.

Is that the real reason you want him to land in Calgary? ;)

I don't think Bettman has anything against Buffalo, other than them being a small market. I hate giving him credit for anything, but during the Adelphia fiasco, he was very supportive of trying to find a local owner for the team rather than allowing relocation.

What would be awesome would be if Winnipeg won though because of the other connections with Matthews and becoming a hockey fan after watching the Coyotes. So Bettman's grand plan results in the Jets moving to Phoenix, Matthews starts playing hockey after watching the Coyotes, becomes a potential star in the making, and gets drafted by the new Winnipeg Jets. How perfect would that be?

Of course I want him in Columbus just so one particular twitter can be followed for hours of entertainment.

My comment was more about how all these stars wind up in small markets.

Hearing Wideman suspension has been reduced to 10 games - Sure, Dennis gets some money back, but the Flames miss out on a) having Wideman for 9 games and b) possibly moving him at the trade deadline.

Thanks. Gary. Ass.

Bettman on the Wideman appeal dragging out: I'm perfectly comfortable with the process.

You can actually taste the smugness emanating from the weasel.

#NHLPA requested in hearing with arb. Oldham on Feb. 26 to allow Wideman to keep playing while appeal was being decided; #NHL declined.

Time for a new commish, who's with me?

Is he fucking joking???
What if the Flames had gone on a run and had been in a playoff race???

Also.. how can this take this long? There is about 45 seconds of video to review and a couple of interviews.

Hey Gary, you made a bad call, get over it.

Nick Kypreos @RealKyper
Is this Wideman saga over? Some suggesting #NHL option on ruling may include looking into an appeal process through federal court.
