Therrien is a fool. He's fine when leading a team doing well, but when they flounder he panics and starts shifting lines blindly until something works. Fucktard.

this was going to independent arbitrator no matter what.
League had to come down hard to keep the refs happy,
Bettman wasn't going to change that for the same reason

by delaying the process 8 games so far, they have already won before it even gets to arb

i wonder if anything will come of the fact wideman played after the concussion spotter suggested some quiet time.,
now that he has been (self? lawyerly?) diagnosed

Even when things kind of work he juggles the lines constantly.

PK has been in the league six seasons now, and he is one of the free who show up every night. Benching him for a mistake is stupid. Especially when Markov has been terrible and gets no punishment. Galchenyuk messages a mistake and losses ice time. Desharnais can do no wrong.

Therrien is losing control, even for him.

I really wonder if he was ever actually diagnosed...because if not the whole defense is basically shot. And with the NHL in a legal battle over CTE, I think they'd be a bit lenient in such a case.

And from another perspective ...

Well, the difference there is that a guy at home probably isn't in a situation where "decking" someone who isn't his wife is OK, whereas if Wideman had done that to anyone on the ice who wasn't wearing stripes I'm not sure there would have even been a penalty.

Saw this point made on Twitter and I agree: therrien chose to send a message over points, basically. And as a team desperate for points. Sort of illustrates that he's given up on the season.

It would be one thing if messages were sent evenly. They are not. Some players can do no wrong. Some players get punished for any mistake. Watch the team every night ( I don't recommend it) and see the lack of effort on some players and compare it to PKs effort. Watch how bad some of the other defensemen are.

If coach isn't fired this week I'm not wearing my Canadiens hat for a while. I mean it.

It was 28 days ago that Therrien passionately defended the team’s longest-serving player, Andrei Markov, who was booed mercilessly at the Bell Centre for making plays that cost the Canadiens dearly in a 4-1 loss to the Boston Bruins.

“This guy gives everything that he’s got for this hockey team over the years,” said Therrien on Jan. 19. “This guy is a true professional.”

Last night:
“An individualistic play cost us the game tonight,” Therrien told reporters in French thereafter.

Great point, because with the way the Habs are playing there is no other way they lose that game.

I really wonder if he was ever actually diagnosed...because if not the whole defense is basically shot. And with the NHL in a legal battle over CTE, I think they'd be a bit lenient in such a case.

And if he was officially diagnosed, hopping on a plane to go play golf in the Arizona sunshine is... an odd choice.

If the whole "defense" is he was disoriented and didn't realize it was a ref, which it seems it is, then there are a number of cans of worms sitting around to be opened. Most notably about concussion protocols. And if he wasn't actually diagnosed with one, then bringing it up is stupid.

They could have stayed with "dazed and angry from the hit, and didn't realize who was there". Makes him look like a prick and assigns blame, which is likely why they don't want to go that way. But I would be on board with the already served 8 and 2 more in that situation. Dumb mistake, and he didn't go back to see if the guy was alright. 10 seems fair. But antagonizing the league and engaging in legal wrangling? Yeah, this was never gonna end well for him.

They are actually kind of impressive in a negative way right now. Fun team to follow right now. Cheers! *drinks bleach*

Wait until they come together and play themselves out of a top 5 pick!

He would net them a literal fuck-ton.

But in that case, they might as well trade Price, Patches, basically everyone over the age of 23. I don't know if they have the guts to do that but I also don't know if they have any idea how to build a coherent offence.
