THIS is what led to him being a toddler and doing a throat slash? A perfectly fine hit? I think he should be reprimanded, I think that the precedent is set in terms of that. But I agree with others that the fact that you can cold clock a guy is deemed fine, but this isn't.

Kadri also didn't think the first hit by Gio was clean (felt Gio targeted his melon). Yeah, I think Kadri was a bit dazed prior to any contact.

He won't make it anywhere near the Penguins, but damn. He's on a team friendly contract too.

So bizarre to me that they decided Schenn was more valuable. View attachment 87596 View attachment 87597

and this is strategic too .. .they want someone to claim him ... there was no effort to find the right time to sneak him through ... its announced edler is out for 3 weeks and then the kings put ehrhoff on waivers (not that the canucks claim him)

I think the Flames should claim Ehrhoff and trade Wideman at the deadline once either Bettman or the independent arbitrator reduces his suspension.

What I really don't get is how they didn't trade him. One year, $1.5M deal? For a guy with those kind of numbers? I get that he's not exactly LA King material, but you can't tell me there are teams lined up to give up a draft pick or mid level prospect for him. Honestly, for a contending team who is cap strapped, this is a genius pick up. The guy may be a third pair sort now, but $1.5M...those guys are gold at the deadline.

Not sure if it was on here, or in Friedman's stuff, but did you see rumor that the Flames were near a trade when the suspension came down?

I did see that, but didn't Friedman debunk that (i.e. the Flames weren't close to trading Wideman) :noidea:

I think he pretty much brushed it off, yeah. At the least said that he hadn't heard any rumblings.
