Kinda funny that technically Phaneuf has now been traded out of Calgary twice. So I guess it's the Flames versus the Toronto Maple Senators tonight at the Saddledome?

Hahaha indeed he is. Pre-game ceremony tonight. Is Stajan the only guy remaining on the team he was traded to from the first trade? Does that mean the Flames win that trade?

Just saw this. So basically Dion for a second next year?
Annnnd you got Dion.LOL> I'm thrilled to get rid of 2 really bad contracts for one. Cowen and Greening are beyond useless. Michalek is still serviceable but he's injured right now (surprise, surprise). I'd bet he gets shipped out to a contender looking for depth.
Lindberg is a B prospect. If I had to bet I'd say that he ends up an NHL player. I don't think he'll ever be a big scorer but he's a big guy who can really skate.
So really you get Lindberg and a 2017 22nd.![]()

This morning was all about Bozak. He's hurt (likely short-term), but it wouldn't be a shock if he's next out.BBB, who is next to go? Whats the rumour around town?

"How to Sell a Bridge" by Lou Lamoriello“This man has extremely impressed me,” Lamoriello told co-hosts Bob McCown and Ken Reid on Sportsnet 590 The Fan. “Watching him, how he’s handled the young players, watching how his work ethic has been, watching how he’s handled the media. He’s been one of the most impressive individuals I’ve been around. The leadership qualities that he’s shown me are genuine.”

Im trying to figure out if this makes Dan Hamhuis more valuable at the deadline... although no matter wha, Benning will probably get less

LMAO @ The Senators for getting the Leaf's sloppy seconds.
I don't get it, I'm keep hearing that the Canucks are trying to make the playoffs, why would they trade Hamhuis at the deadline?
leafs did get rid of THAT contract ... PLUS they didnt retain any of it

His real $$$ is declining. So does Lupul's after this year; you want him too?I don't think people understand the magnitude of Cowen and Greening's suckitude. These guys are HORRIBLE and being paid $7.7 M combined this year. Greening is on the 4th line.... in Binghamton. Cowen is a regular healthy scratch behind Mark Borowiecki (candidate for worst puckhandling D-man in the NHL) and Patrick "Baby Giraffe on Skates" Wiercioch. Michalek's contract is a little high too, although he can still play well when healthy.
It should be noted that while Phaneuf's deal is longer than all these guys' deals, his salary is declining. He makes $6M and $5.5 in his last two years. That's somewhat more palatable.
The more I think about it I'm pretty happy with this deal.
He already was - Hunwick and Rielly are the Leafs' top pair d-men. Maybe that's why he wasn't so terrible this year.Hopefully Phagoof can have a small resurgence by playing against second pairing competition.
